What up sp fam, second post but I browse a lot and I'll probably be fuckin around in some of these battles from now on. But anyways, I just copped the 505 and...sigh. The sheer amount of time it took to loop a sample completely turned me off. I really hate the interface too it's just weird. Also I don't like how long it takes to go through the different banks. Idk maybe I'm just biased because I owned the 404 before this and the workflow on that machine is amazing. I only copped it for $125 so the question here is, why should I keep this machine and not sell it for a profit?

Maybe you're probably more a 303/404 intuitive approach than a 505/606 build tracks approach. If it's the case, better to go to 303/404/555 field.
I own one, I use it from time to time and honestly the main raisons are the (not so good) pitch function and the 4tracks. I use those in combination with resampling method+sync and with the delay method developped by dakim

Word thanks for the reply ella, and i agree i think the 303/404 would definitely suit me better, but the reason i sold my 404 was because i couldnt finish tracks on it. The sequencer was just not for me and the patterns i would put together didnt flow together the way i wanted them too, it may be a matter of practice though. Definitely thinking about getting an mpc + 404 combo goin on. Also could you elaborate on that delay method?

here is the big thread about it. I use it in conjunction wih the fact that the 505 can force samples and delay to sync the sequencer's tempo. It' s a method wich allow you to use seq and pads in laternation (if you like) so you have sort of more than 4 tracks: you can "occupate" 4 tracks with 4 certain samples end then use simultaneously other loops synced to seq live (but not necessarely recorded on tracks)

If you don't ever use it as a sampler, then you can use it as an FX processor, and a rather good one. I got mine out of the pawn shop (4 months, if not 3 tops), and I played with my Volca FM, & Volca Beats on it. I played with the delay, and got it going louder & louder when I had it going just right. Even if I never hit sample, that's maybe something I'd want to copy into a audio track into to a DAW. Or use with a loop pedal. Or sample into my Akai S20 for some old school dirt. I have a memory card for it. I can sample any time. But I enjoy altering the sounds with the 26 FX to choose from. If you needed more FX, you can always go with a Kaoss Pad.

If you sell it, try to use the cash on a SP303.
