Sorry if this is one of those "read the manual" questions, but I've read it and still haven't found a solution.

Say I have a pattern at 93 bpm and my sample needs to be stretched to 85bpm to fit in sync. I can go into bpm adjust and change it and it sounds right, but when I play the pattern and lay it on top, it adjusts it back to the bpm of the pattern. Is there a way around this, or do I have to resample it with the bpm change I want?

On my 303 I can timestretch each sample individually and sequence them without resampling, is that possible on the 505?

have you however tried with the single/phrase thing?
maybe Fauna or other can you confirm something for your resample tip?
i think that the 505 as the 606 is conceived to work samples with the sequencer; but on the 606 you can anyway treat the sample with its own timestretch (as on the 303-404 etc)

yeah, hey brokewax. the trick is to adjust it and then set the sample to 'phrase' rather than 'single'. are you doing that? that fits samples to pattern timing.

that lumpy, time-stretched choppy sound you get is just part of the fun of the SP's. enjoy it.

word word, I have my sample set to phrase and everything...I was just wondering if I could manipulate it to another bpm because sometimes when it stretches to the pattern bpm it doesn't fit. On the 303 I always just played the sequence out and used the knob to change the bpm in real time, guess you can't do it on the 505.

All good, I really appreciate the help fellas...thank you!

one thing i noticed on the 505 or 606 timestretch workflow is the fact that even if you chop a little bit more or less a sample, then it will bre stretched almost radically different from before.
maybe try to cut the sample "very perfectly" as you want to loop "good"...then timestretching will follow "better"...

Here's how to do it.

Tap the pad you want to go at separate BPM.
Push BPM adjust
Set BPM.
Hit PTN.
Your pad should still be playing at set speed.
Resample it.
Use new resampled pad for what you want.
