Anyone used one of these?

Saw one on craigslist and wondering if I should pick it up to join forces with my 404 and 606...

never used one but it seems pretty cool. Just remember its not a sampler just a drum machine, with bass and synth sounds built in and has all the basic fx and has a sequencer. If you want to keep it basic, it could be an all in one machine.

Sounds from the Beat Kangz.... ;)

You could call it a ghetto Beat Thang if you got one. I've thought about picking one up to go along with my Sampletrak.

Nah, I got samplers covered with the 606 and 404. Just thought it might be cool to have something with a bunch of onboard sounds I could feed either into the 606 or 404 and tweak around. I was wondering if anybody around these parts had experience with it. My relatively limited experience with ZOOM makes me a little wary though, as I find them nowhere near as user-friendly as SP's

I dunno man, I had put away my Zoom sampler for the last 6 months and I just took it out over the weekend. Every feature on it is faster/easier for me to use than my 404. I never used the drum machines, but from the looks of them they seem to be set up the same way. I think if you can rock the SP samplers you'll have no problem on a Zoom machine.

NO! I don't work for Zoom, but I feel they don't get much love due to their low price. The way I see the streetbox is like the DR202. It's a hiphop based drum machine with samples geared toward our genre.

Yeah I gotta admit, the last time I messed with a ZOOM I was not drum machine savvy in the LEAST, so it's entirely possible I'm way off...maybe now since I've got some SP experience under my belt the ZOOM stuff would be a breeze

And I think you're %100 right on about inexpensive equipment being overlooked ...this happens across the spectrum for instruments. For an alarming amount of people, not only novices, expensive = good, and guitar center reaps the benefits. But in my experience this is not the case. I read an interview with ?uestlove from the roots and he said the cheapest drums are usually his favorite in terms of sound...I couldn't agree more.

my homie jonny just picked one up and i was playing with it the other night, its actually a pretty dope little machine, perfect for drums patterens and bas sounds, it works perfectly alongside an sp, just sample loops into the sp, or it can just be used as a sound module, shits got a gang of sounds.
