to all my heads from toledo and surrounding spots, im attempting to get a bunch of us cats together to form a team of beatmakers that can bring toledo's beat scene to the front of things...

ormo i know you do shows around here so your input to this would be highly appreciated... i havent done anything myself as far as "live" in front of a crowd but thats one of my goals for the summer...

if anyone thinks they'd be interested then pm me... im willing to take this as far as anything else in this world can go... searching for dope mcs around here has been a drag so im focusing on other aspects...

let me know what you guys think...

more like a private thing at irst... i mean.. there's no reason for us not to be associating with each other on a regular basis... plus that ish could lead to local beat battles during days like this where we jus send out a text or something like meet at such n such place for a surprise battle or something...

ive got access to a pa system so just getting a spot would be the next thing...

this could be awesome.
as long as it stays positive and focused and inclusive.
there are some dumb mother fuckers in Toledo that might try and crash something like a beat club meeting in a public place. but if the energy is poitive and the vibe is creative it could be amazing.

there was something like this before. it was like hip hop club or something and me and my dude went up there and played our bands cd. the band was called knowone and this was four mcs myself included and me and another dude making the beats.

it was fun I don't think they are active anymore and you still had a lot of dudes in there that would confidently tell you they were on some next shit rapping about girls and money.

word man i had know idea... and i hope that it would stay positive... i know some cats might front on it cuz i wouldnt be about having "gangster" raps or beats being represented all the time but that ish, most of the time, is
what changes the crowd. i want this to be about expression more than anything... like if u were afraid to stray away from gangster raps and wanted to try being different, then this would be the place for it...

i was thinking about talking to the ppl that run ground level coffee... i dont want to start out with a cover charge or anything like that because i want cats to come w/o any hassles... butif they need that then i might find another spot...

Sounds dope to me. Nice that beat makers can battle on the spot like rappers :D

Too bad I'm in PR though  Not that there isn't beat makers here but its just that there's like one beatmaker to every 30 miles here.

:D yeah thats kinda f-d up, lol

but i think it'd be great and we (toledo) are only about 300k in size so i tend to feel the same way at times cuz its very hard to communicate with other cats unless u pertain to a certain style of beat (commercial in majority)

so i hope that things will ignite with this...

ground level is a good idea.

i think the fact that its a coffee house would keep things chill.

What are the groovy college/low power FM or AM stations in that area?
Are there any publications or blogs that cover in any way the scene?

@ ormo... some time this week im going by there to chop it up with those cats...

@ hxc we have quite a few local publications that would do write ups if needed.. and besides our local college radio station Bowling Green university is close and we are within arms lengths of places like detroit and cleveland..

the university of toledo has one of the best business and pharmacy degrees in ohio so we tend to draw out of towners fairly often..

i really feel like this could be dope... i mean... we (ohio) have our share of artist from rjd2 to moss to blueprint.. to anita baker (from here actually) to art tatum and a list of others... theres no reason why the next big name cant come up on this...

I was thinking about asking my buddy who owns an art gallery (bozarts) on st clair. if he would be down to host a beat showcase. I don't have a pa. but he is in a band and I've played with them a few times. since it's an art gallery he would probably want a pretty well planned event.

did you talk to the cats at ground level?
