i did a little studying on john cage and a couple of other avantgarde composers and its really interesting what they consider music. To me it really opened up my perception to what sound can be considered as. we live in a world full of sounds and its always relaxing just taking a seat and letting it all soak in.

at the moment im really in to don von vilet and the great frank zappa

i remember Brian Eno talkin about the possibility of considering an everyday scene like an excercise to do at home: for example a dog shouting, a car driving from left to right, an ambulance far on the street etc on the same scene, and we can try to consider this scene like " ok, here he put the dog that shout then he makes the sound of a car driving from left to right etc" (i read that from a fundamental book, "Ocean of sound" by David Toop)...
in any case Cage influenced very much Eno, who "invented" ambient music from a bed of an hospital, without any possibility of moving, listening to a broken stereo...

john cage is one of my heroes. it's composers like him who have made me look differently at music and how i define it. although most of us are into producing EDM or hip-hop, it is always good to look at avant-garde artists as it is usually them who are pushing the boundaries.

on a similar topic of "how do we define art?". me and my girlfriend often drive on this bypass (i don't know what people in america would call it, it's basically a road that bypasses a heavy populated or congested area) and they have two walkways. one on each side of the road. there are always people walking there and me and my girlfriend have started referring to this stretch of road as "moving art". the road is quite busy so everybody walking on either side of the road is basically on "display".
