interesting.
it's a pity that there are not (maybe they're cited?) on the documentary some persons wich pushed over the concept of copyright.
i'm talking about KLF (electronic band of the '80, Kopyright Liberation Front), accused by Abba to sample "dancin' queen" and winner of the cause and they made KLF burn all their copies of this 45 (but KLF published a clandestine copy with some suggestions in order to make your own sampled copy at your house ahah) http://www.benedict.com/audio/KLF/KLF.aspx....or M.A.R.R.S. ("pump up the volume": who don't know this?) made by almost 30 different samples....the Negativland, who had problems with U2 (http://www.wired.com/wired/archive/3.01/negativland_pr.html) or the 2 live crew (i don't remebere their case indeed, sorry)

ha, negativland has a great sense of humor. their album 'dispepsi' had the pepsi logo on the front, and on the inside they had the letters scrambled in the pepsi font in every imaginable way, just to piss off copyright weasels, to have them scrounging for loopholes... brilliant. every song shamelessly sampled pepsi commercials. their more recent one 'no business' (100% samples) is really cool because it's all samples of risky stuff i.e. 'the little mermaid' disney, 'the sound of music'.... they rearrange the words to the songs to make it sound like the singer is talking shit about the music business, and fuzzy issues like downoading, sampling... it's so good. man that album is so good, everybody gots to get it on itunes, really. edit: guess they withdrew all of their stuff, nevermind...

but check this vid out 8)
