tascam is a great brand to learn the ropes of a multi-track. doesn't have tons of menus to fumble through, very simple layout compared to alot of other brands. have fun with it homie 8)

never used one... its a multitrack recorder, thats pretty much all I know. Ha. You can mixdown each track individually...

all I know is that having one is a hell of a lot better than the way I've been recording my music. I do everything with the 505... I personally need something better to record in to than cool edit.

Also its nice to have something that is semi-portable.

Learn it, and let me know how you like it jay.

NICE!!! I wanted one for a while. It's pretty nice and shouldn't be hard to learn at all. Tascam tends to focus on ease of use. Paired with your SP you got a small hardware based studio on your hands now. Have fun with it man.

hey Jay i had one just like this before i got my 555. i think it was just an older version. anyways, i was even more newbish than i am now and i picked it up real quik. ax is right the menus are real easy to work with. its nice having those 8 tracks to lay down on. you can even bounce the tracks so really you have an unlimited number of tracks. i think thats what i really missed when i first got the 555 was having multiple tracks. anyways, im sure youll work wonders with it.

Yeah, my boy's dad has one of those, as far as I know it's pretty awesome. I have an old school Tascam 4 track tape recorder and love using it much more than recording into cool edit or audasity. It just feels right.

ps... fuck Cool Edit

that would be a trip, but naw my brother in law has it. in fact i kinda want to hit him up and see if hes is using it or not. i wouldnt mind incorporating it back in.

hey btw does any one know where to get one of those casette 4-tracks from tascam? it would be a cool gift for a friend of mine.

yo the dope thing about that recorder is you can midi out from your 555 and when you push play on the 555 it starts recording on the tascam so you can multi track without the track drifting. i used to do this on my boss recorder and sp 505.

EBAY. I got mine maddd cheap...like $20 shipped, and it works great. Deffinitly adds something to the sound. Otherwise just keep checking out craigslist. guitarcenter has some of the newer models for like $100 if you looking to pay that much.

multi tracks are dope jay. you can make mixs with your beats easy, you can record each peice of a track seperatly so you can cut out that horn sample say and pan it or whatever. it makes it easier to level...latly ive been makin mad tracks just freestyle, lay the drums on track 1 then the bass on track two freestlye off a keyboard then something else on 3 and four etc. just fuckin with keyboards live and the kaossilator is SO fun over some drums.
