I hated this band back in the day. The NME were searching around for a new scene/movement to blow up in the late 90s, following the death of Brit Pop, and for the next big thing band and Gomez were one of the ones they tried to make 'it'. (Luckily for them, The Strokes came along a couple of years later and saved them in that regard and the whole garage rock boom could happen).
