Just spotted this, a mystery new CASIO launch for 20th January 2022.

Sounds as if it has a vocoder whatever it is, and my ears already approve of their AiX engine, so looking forward to seeing what it is either way. The video and launch date are official (published by CASIO themselves), so that's good, but I'm really hoping it's more than just a keyboard with a vocoder bolted on!

Speculations as to what it might be have already started in the YouTube comments of the video:

With you both on hoping it's a new CZ but I don't think it is. The AiX logo suggest it's a sample based instrument, so I'm hoping CASIO have made a nice, knobby sampler with full-size keys!

If they have I reckon it'll sell like crazy. There's a beam of light sweeps over the panel, and if you watch in 1080p and pause it at the right times, you can kinda make-out a lot of it.

- It has a red-coloured body (looks a bit like a Nord)
- It has chunky grey-coloured knobs
- It has chunky grey-coloured buttons
- It has a knob as well as a wheel on the left cheek

Hmmm ... :?

PLEASE let it be a hands-on sampler with analogue filters, cause like I said, a CZ would be very cood but I don't think it's a CZ (unless perhaps they've integrated the tech with AiX).

if it's so then this could be a sort of descendent of the korg microsampler who knows (always in doubt with that machine: i've tried once years ago in a shop and didn't impressed me that much in therms of sounds, but seeing many videos it's a capable machine indeed; there's also a good thread here in the forum)

That's kinda what I'm getting at, the Korg MicroSampler was a fairly hands-on and powerful little sampler, but unfortunately it appeard to be designed for people two foot tall with hands like a newborn. Either that, or it was designed for people from planet Nano!

This is what I meant by hands-on sampler with full size keys, and having analogue filters would be the icing on the cake!

Unfortunately I see speaker grilles, so that proabably suggests it's just some mutation of their keyboard range. Still, I'm a big fan of CASIO, have been all my life and am very eager to see what this is. At the very least it uses AiX and will likely have those piano-style keys, so if it has a Touch-Wah as well it is very likely to win my heart as something to feed the MKII with.

If I do go for this CASIO, the way things are going it looks as if I might even end up with the CASIO before the MKII. You should see the estimated delivery dates of some MKII sellers lately, bloody hell, we're talking pretty much mid summer now!

have you got the chance to try they're last weird red circular-like designed sampler? that was a sort of ufo some years ago (in pair with the zoom weridest one), always intrigued by it

I've never seen one in real life, I don't think they ever sold that CASIO in the UK or even Europe, I think it was Asia only but could be wrong.

It's a sampling-based product and is coloured red though, so that could be a good sign

Never had interest in the ZOOM apart from right at the end when I saw a major retailer selling them off, brand new, at around £80 or something. By the time I had bothered to research the ZOOM product they were either pulled from sale or sold out.

Sonic State recently released this CZ video, and I wonder if it's a coincidence?

Casio tried to get back in the synth game with 2 different synths about 6 or 7 years ago. And both…..just kinda looked like a joke. They just can’t stop making crap keyboards for kids, so if they’re really trying to get in the synth game, they either need to go modular or give up. A recreation of a vintage synth from 40 years ago just ain’t gonna cut it!!

The only way Casio has a shot at the synth market is if they develop a serious synth at a price that is cheaper than Korg/Yamaha/Roland/Novation.

Otherwise they will just be releasing a turd in 2022!

Casio G-Shock watches are cool...Casio Keyboards aren't basically...

- They revolutionised the world with the coolest calculators
- They got them down to the size of a credit card by the 80s
- They make the world's most iconic watch (CASIO F-91W)
- They make the toughest watches out there (G-Shock)
- They made TV's that fit in your pocket at the time giant CRT's were the norm
- They beat Yamaha to the patents with PM (as used in the CZ synths)
- They made the SK-1 sampler available to all while mega-stars drooled over Fairlights
- They make keyboards that are full arrangers for the price Yamaha ask for a preset machine
- They brought the words first consumer digital camera to market

And perhaps most relevant of all in a forum that revolves around sampling, CASIO made samplers back in the 80s that were actually capable of resynthesizing those samples. Something AKAI, Roland and Yamaha still haven't managed to bring to market four decades later!

And throughout of all that innovation, and despite its size, CASIO has remained a family business, passed-down from one Kashio to the next.

CASIO have to be one of the coolest companies out there, even the logo looks cool 8)

i have this nice little synth, a Casio ht700, "Spectrum Dynamic" synthesis, Casiotone MT-600 is near to this but not that editable.

mine it's refurbished in the Honher label (Hohner ks49), a cheap version in only therms of price, but it's 99% the same, also in design therms

it has analog filters;)
