This 1970s funk track and video just gave me inspiration for a verse of misogynistic lyrics!

"You're a fine lookin' bitch
I'm a man on a mission
You've triggered my passion
Assume the position"

I'm just kidding (or maybe I'm not), but either way let this video be a lesson to any hot-blooded males out there, that targeting women with shooting skills is not a good idea.

You will be deaded, especially if you try it on this one

And for the feminists; I'm glad she got her revenge, cause in the end, it's all just pretend!

- He brought us K.I.T.T. in the form of Knight Rider!
- He brought joy to men world wide in the form of Baywatch!

And now, ladies and gentlemen, marvel as "The Hoff" continues to impress with full-bodied vocal talents in his cover of "The Passenger". Not gonna lie, this new video makes me think he'd make the coolest Mafia Boss and that he should definitely make such a movie!

Lol.

That cover version is as stiff and wooden as Hasselhoff's acting....

'Full bodied vocal talent' ?
It sounds like he has a breathing tube inserted into both nostrils.

Come back Rick Astley...all is forgiven.

Yep, sure thing homie, and I just knew you'd appreciate that one

But yeah, The Hoff is well known for his full-bodied singing voice, he can sing low-down and there's still heft behind it. Sure he releases a lot of cheesy stuff (a lot of it intentionally cheesy), but nevertheless he's been knocking-out tracks since the 80s, this catchy love song of his being a perfect example of how well suited his vocal is to this stuff. Listen on a decent Hi-Fi or some good quality cans and be amazed (even if YouTube has removed the bass and sparkle).

I reckon this track is every bit as catchy as most of the well-known love songs of the 80s, and is probably sung way better than most of the famous charting artists of the time would have managed had they sung it instead. If I could buy a vocal for my own throat and had the choice between "The Hoff" and "Rick Astley", hahaha, I'd buy The Hoff in a heartbeat, no contest!

Utter junk.

I can't obviously speak for everyone here but I seriously doubt anyone thinks what you're posting is actually any good ...and I suspect you don't believe it either.

Why are you wasting your time on this stuff?...when you could post something decent in the thread.

David Hasselhoff's music is fucking moronic, dude.

Maybe you're attempting to be ironic or something ...

Fuck knows.

Apart from one, every single track I've posted in here was posted because I genuinely enjoy the track. There literally is no limit to the sort of music I like to listen to as long as it captures my attention in some musically pleasing way. This could be down to melody, technique or a whole bunch of other factors.

I only post quality tunes, and the 80s love ballad you just attacked is no exception. "Flying On The Wings Of Tenderness" has everything one expects from a quality 80s love ballad. It's a quality tune, it's well written, it's well produced and most of all, it's well sung, so it's everything I expect from a quality 80s love ballad.

The only track I ever posted that wasn't a track I would listen to is "Long Time Woman" by Pam Grier. I admit I posted that one just for the video, but every other track I posted was out of genuine admiration for the track for one reason or another. I tend to enjoy music that is melodically pleasing, flowing and catchy.

You might find this hard to believe but I actually really enjoy this thread from an educational standpoint. That said, I'm often left scratching my head how my tracks get dimissed as "rubbish" or "aweful" or whatever. I mean even the funk track I posted at the top of this page was responded to with a list of three supposedly better funk tracks. So I listened to them and was shocked to find that the first two didn't even sound like funk tracks to me, and it was only the third that had any funk about it!

I much prefer the "Lipstick" track I posted, because that sounds much more like funk to me. That's why I never bothered to reply, I was reluctant to cause now I'm wondering what the fuck "Funk" is actually supposed to be if the track I posted isn't and the first two you posted in response is. For me, "Lipstick" was way more enjoyable and recognisable as a "Funk" track than the three recommendations you gave, so I'm totally confused.

Not knocking your choices though, and in fact you will never see me knock anyone's choice in music, I never have and never will. There's a whole bunch of stuff posted in this thread that I think is just plain unlistenable, but I never say so because it's down to the individual what they think is good.

I actually don't mind when people criticise the tracks I post (and this occasion is no exception), because it makes me wonder what must go on in their head to come to such decisions, so yeah, it's all interesting but often unfothomably weird for me! On the plus side it is often amusing, and sure, I had a big gfrin ion my face when I thought to post "The Hoff" for your attention!

I don't even listen to him normally, I just posted the tracks to change things up a bit, sort of an unexpected surprise if you will, and frankly I'm amazed you can criticise him like that. His cover of "The Passenger" even has hardcore fans of the original drooling and saying what a fine job he made of it (and personally I think it's the best cover ever made of that track, and is more enjoyable to listen to than the original).

As for the ballad, well, I honestly have no idea why it's being met with such negativity. It's a love ballad for fuck sake. It's well written, well produced, well sung and pretty damn catchy as far as I'm concerned, so again I'm quite surprised at the negativity!

Here's Discogs links to the first two tracks I posted SP-USER ,notice what the genre of music is listed as .

I've been collecting Funk records since the late 1980s..so I'd like to believe I know a little about what I'm doing by now ..:)

Not doubting what you say homie, I'm just confused by it that's all. I'll have to watch I few "Funk" documentaries or something. I do love the sound of Funk (very much so) but it's all new to me in so far as me having any interest in having a go at it myself.

That's why I'm so pissed-off at the MKII for not having a Touch Wah, cause I feel like I absolutely need a Touch Wah for decent Funk! Those LFO-driven Wah are of very limited use compared to a Touch Wah. And that's what I'm getting at in comparison to the Lipstick track. I hear a lot of Funk in Lipstick but hardly anything that sounds like funk (to me I mean) in the first of those two tracks you posted.

That's why I never replied cause I just assumed I would come out with something dumb and incorrect. I feel like I'm missing something obvious about the genre that I've not picked up on for whatever reason, so like I said I'll have to watch a few documentaries or something, get a better understanding of what it actually is.

Just a heads-up to let y'all know I've updated the lyrics to that verse in the Lipstick post!

From "You're a hell of a bitch"
To "You're a fine lookin' bitch"

Just works better I think and I'm trying to improve my song-writing skills. Although it was improvised quickly for the post and just for fun, it was still bugging me. But anyway, I think it works much better now because it paints a better picture of the communicative style of the character saying it.

So it was a bit shit before, but due to that simple change I think it really works now!

Yeah, just when you though your comment had gone unnoticed, SP-USER strikes back with a track designed to rectify your senses and drop a hint or two!

Laugh if you want, but this epic cover got the dude over a quarter of a million views

A lesser known long version of the Boney M track "Boonoonoonoos". Not entirely sure what Boonoonoonoos is, but from the lyrics I guess it's something you either have or you haven't.

Naturally, me being cool prolly means I have Boonoonoonoos and don't even realise it

Another one from Boney M, this time telling the story of El Lute, a dude who was accused of doing something he didn't do and was sentenced to die because of it. It all came good in the end, but it was just in the nick of time!

This track be telling the story of really every poor man's homie, El Lute!
