Ladies & Gents, it’s gonna be on your wish list. There’s so many new features I can’t list them all! And now there’s 37 effects!! There’s mute groups! You can roll a drum hit such as hi hat! As far as pitch there’s a Vinyl mode to make it go up & down. But you can stretch your samples if you need it to do that. But you can reach granular rates if you want it to.

It’s 1am, and my alarm goes off in 3 hours. I’m so excited, I probably won’t go back to bed now!! Which will be a long day, but oh well!

Moderators might as well create the mk2 part of the forum, because I know there’s gonna be a lot of q & a down the road. There may be some missing features, but I’m not even going there. I just see all that the mk2 CAN Do! And with a 404 og/SX/A you’re golden. I’d go so far as to say you would only need a Arturia KeyStep. No additional drum machine or synth if you had both, because you could probably bounce fx back n forth to make a synth from scratch.

I was gonna wait on this, but now I’m like “I need this NOW!!!”

Just saw it, but gonna grab some breakfast now so I'll leave my observations until later!
But is that an SD Card Slot I see on the side, briefly at 0:16?

It's actually kind of crazy when it comes to pitch. You can change the pitch without the tempo, but also the tempo without changing the pitch or both. Very powerful stuff. The only thing I saw was there isn't a very good way yet to instantly sequence samples you change chromatically, you'll have to resample those to pads first. But overall this new SP-404 MKII is really just on a whole other level. The screen showing wave forms and so on, is huge to me also, even when on my old 404 I chopped by ear and it was fine, this stuff is just a huge time saver.

As for midi out, I don't know, probably no multi-midi out over USB or something new like that. But have to wait and see for early adopters to reveal that. I am a little bit sad they dropped the internal mic. Yes, it wasn't very great, but still awesome for on-the-go sampling.

Anyway, I might pick one up. (But I'm also considering getting an MPC One one of these days.) In a direct comparison, the SP-404 MKii feels a little bit expensive. But I suppose this was always true.

Just seen the video Roland dropped and damn, this machine looks wild. The way they lay the display out is super efficient. I’m sceptical on wether the 303 vinyl sim will really have that compressor effect the actual 303 has or will it be a superficial, almost digitalised rendition that doesn’t hit much the same? The work flow looks a lot more streamlined too now. I’m rlly digging this, not sure I’m buying anytime soon though but it’s definitely in consideration in future.

Also whoever came up with that DJ mode and worked out the lay out is genius, really original.

If a person can’t make music on the mk2….
Nice updates, but i prob won’t get it. Got other shit that covers all the new features. If they only dropped this instead of the “A”

I don't think I've ever seen so many reviews for a product pop-up so quickly

Will have to spend all day watching them all in the order they're showing. Just watched Loopop's review and wow, VERY nice indeed. Seems Roland really are sadistic and were just teasing with the evasive specs, definitely had me fooled, and it actually has a built-in SD CARD slot as well so no stupid dongle (which is a MAJOR relief)!

Have to say my opinion has headed the reverse of PheMoX after seeing it. Because now we know it has pitch (AND PAN WHOOOHOOO!!!) and even overdubbing from an external input, it means this thing doubles as a sort of 'creative multi-track audio recorder' and that is absolutely incredible! I will definitely be chosing this over the MPC ONE, which I'm surpised to find myself saying cause honestly, my opinion was the polar opposite even after seeing the official video from Roland this morning! I think it's fair to say Ill Green has a worthy center-piece for his studio with this, and even Zindan might want one as well!

Hmmm, think I can picture him now, designer of the SP-404MKII:

- RACE: Japanese
- SEX: Male
- AGE: Mid Fourties
- OCCUPATION: 404 Development at Roland
- FAVOURITE MOVIE: Ichi the Killer
- FAVOURITE PASSTIME: Sadistic Teasing

A man after my own heart it seems, so well done Roland, you sickos
Finally, something I can make music with and actually work the way I want to!

A tad off topic but, I love Ichii The Killer!!

It’s kinda a fucked up movie. There’s rapes, blood spurts, hot grease boiling the skin of a Yakuza boss dangling from hooks & chains, and needles being put through faces!

Entertainment the whole family can enjoy!! Lol

Ok, I’m obviously joking. Ichii ain’t for the squeamish. But the story sucks you in.

I’ll let y’all know how the pads feel early November.
Or maybe earlier!

For me personally, the real selling point is that skip back sampling.
Can’t tell you how many times I was just noodling and made something nice then went back to replicate it and never quite nailed it.

Btw, I tried to get the app but it looks like I have to subscribe to Roland cloud. If so, that’s pretty dodgy. If anyone downloads the app, tell me how you did it.
