Im just wondering what peoples processes look like as far as how long people sit on stuff to work on it. Up until now everything i have released has been a single session per beat, find a sample chop it make some shit and record it when i get bored of messing with it. Lately i have been making a conscious effort to save beats and come back to em later. Sometimes coming back to something yields rad results, second parts that are drastically different, and sometimes i just cant catch the vibe and it continues to sit after being initially made. Just curious what other peoples thoughts and processes look like in regards to this oneportion of the creative process.

I just work on it till I think it's done. That can take ten minutes, or a year. If I have a loop or idea that doesn't feel finished, i won't force it (took a while to learn that lesson), rather I file it away in my memory, and revisit it when I hear something that might fit with it. This just happened recently with an old beat. It was okay, but nothing to get excited about. Then I heard some chimes on a jazz record that made me think of that beat, and how it would be perfect for it. Just a simple sample of some chimes, but now the beat has that extra space, texture, and variation that make it sound good on its own.

I was listening to ink and essence in the car last week, btw. Great stuff!

Art isn't complete until it's been critiqued...

...or so says that old saying.
