Ok my current arseonal is

SP 404 og , SP 505(mint) , SP 606 (haggard)

Zoom st224, Tascam 4 track MFP01, DR 202, Tascam digi 24 track IO,
Berhinger usb RCA sound card. My girlfriend is borrowing the 202 to learn to sample parts from her record stacks.

So I need either something cheap or awesome.,

I was looking at compressors, I think I need one to boost mixes and run my vocals thru and stuff.

I was looking at monotrons and need something to jazz up my sample beats.

Mot shure what I need, but the only synth I have is 404 subsonic, 606 oscilator and some crappy keyboards.

I think I need a mpc 1000 or mv 8000/8800 to move all my samples to and make everything in there. So I might just get a computer and audio interface, and transfer all my samples to a HD enviroment like flstudio.

hmm what do u think i should get to help my studio out.

I started collecting all the sp's to compensate for what the others cant do, which is silly cause now they all collect dust and i just the 505 for everything, unless i need to pitch something then i use the sample track .

I used to pitch in the 202 though. Should I just get a computer, p.s I dont use a computer for anything now, Just as a sample source and to upload music because sony recorder is so awesome

if you don't have a computer, maybe that is a good way to go. you could always use it for whatever else people need computers for. as for gear, i'd back the mpc 1000. i use it to sequence other machines, and record performances as audio tracks (might need jjos to do that, i have the 5.0). the 1000 does everything i used my 4000 for, but with such a smaller footprint, and faster load times.

i know what you mean about sps. i've had many, now it's down to the 303.

fake answer: you have more than enough gear to make stuff

real answer: I'm bipolar so it's a good thing I'm poor or I would have a house made out of gear. So I understand the 'gotta have more'. A production PC is a very powerful thing. DAWs like Ableton Live can do insane shit. If you can actually afford a new beefy computer you can get Live for something like 50% off if you're a student and scan them a student ID. Live Suite is powerful as hell and it's insane what you get in the Max4Live environment. There are also more than enough super high quality VSTi/VSTs that are totally free.

That said I only use Live for super retarded broken electronic mayhem stuff. The whole reason I got sucked into this lofi hip hop/404SX stuff so much is because it is the antithesis of working in a DAW. Freeform pattern resampling, not giving a fuck about EQing sounds properly, not giving a fuck about super technical mixing and phase alignment and blah blah blah. It was a massive change and eye opener to the lofi world to get away from all of that shit. Although I do still love Neurofunk and Neurohop and shit like that I just listen to it a lot less frequently. You could make 404 beats and then polish it up super clean even with free quality VSTs, but I find it extremely liberating to just fuck all that off and lofi everything and slam the 404 COMP on and call it done. Upload straight off the SD card.

Yea man , I used to collect samples as lofi in the 404, Then export all the samples and make beats with them in 32 bit / 96k hD enviroment. It gives you an ultra rich feel while keeping an authentic lofi quality. I think the lofi when mixed in HD with a teeny bit of eq and FX to smooth out the lofi and make it less harsh. otherwise lofi can be to harsh on its own.

I put all my samples in the 202, then bounced to the 404 and it was kinda harsh, then I mixed it at 24 bit with some eq and it totally smoothed out the harsh in the lofi.

I don't need to do anything super complicated like tech step and neuro funk glitch stuff, so i am going to hold off on the computer for a bit more and check out the monotron duo. I have a long cold lonely winter ahead of me. But I doubt ill turn into a dubstep master , I just learned to make simple dubstep today on the sp 505 chopping up other dubstep LOL.
My girl and I broke up this weekend over me being jelous about other guys. She has the 202, maybe well get along sometime :( I hope.

Anyway yea I have to much samplers and not enough noise making things. Programming stuff note for note on any sp with the sequencer can be way too hard core tedious to then all the banks are full and cant move on cause you love the sounds to much. , Where on a computer you can just click around and make a glitched out song in 20 minutes.

Damn that sucks I'm sorry man. I hope you get your 202 back. [and maybe smooth things out with her]

I really want to try out a Monotron Delay but idk where to find one on display.

The MiniBrute is a great synth.
https://soundcloud.com/marco-grouch/noise-texture
It can do so much more than pure insane noise, but as you can tell it's pretty easy to do that as well. [all of the drums I made on the MiniBrute also, it's literally every sound source]

if your 404 was an SX I would suggest looking into single cycle waveforms and importing them into the 404, if you loop it it'll be a synth tone. Does the 505 pitch like the ST-224 is able to? If so you could record those into that and just map pitches to the pads and play that like a synth but idk if you just sampled them in I think it would be almost impossible to loop them properly. ALTHOUGH! You can make synth tones out of anything on the 404. Just sample anything and make the loop points small enough so it's synth-like [although the single cycle waveforms would be more synth-y]

Oh shit nevermind you have a Sampletrak I totally missed that... Yeah just sample something into the 404, adjust the loop points until it's a synth tone and then record that into the sampletrack and put it on all the pads and then pitch them and play it like a limited synth. This would also be awesome for Subsonic! damn I'll have to try that out myself.

If you don't have a pro-audio soundcard interface going into a DAW on a good computer I wouldn't really recommend hardware compressors or things like that.

Oh also another thing you asked about: I don't have any experience with combo sampler/sequencers like MPCs or MVs.
