I love using weird sources!

Melodic sample packs, My old Gameboy Advanced, My n64, TV shows, Thrift store musical equipment, and Field recordings.

Then just drop everything in to a daw. What are your guys favorite weird sources? Any tricks you use to pick you sounds you want to use?

I'm like you, samples with the sp and drop them all into my mac
but the majority of my samples come from vinyl..

I like vhs but don't use it nearly enough.

Being a delivery guy, I hear a lot of wind chimes and dogs barking. Eventually I'll record some of that and see what I can do with it. If I had bigger balls I would interview some of the downtown crazies for some material.

synthesizers, SOMETIMES 33rpms and mostly youtube or any other internet source.
i could sample off any n64/toys/tv shows and all but tthing is tthat most of these shit are already documented on the web..
also a lot of video games' samples/soundfx/ost are available online so yea..
if you are not using tthe internet's databases as sampling sources in 2k14, then idk what to tell u

I have a couple of 'noise apps' on iPod that make random electronic noises that I sample now and then. I think that's as 'unconventional' as I get. Just random noise generators.
