i caught a knob turn that looked like it worked with the beat but the rest i thought was out of sync. Like he was just in the back of a bus rocking silently on the 404 and they just put a beat on the video that had nothing to do with the 404's sounds.

I heard a Delay flutter and thats about it. Performing Electronic Beats is hard. some cats get criticized for using DJFXLOOPer too much, but then you see a vid like this that leaves lots to be desired in terms of tweaking. Teebs is one of my favs for sure though!

Ya, his music is great. I love that drone super reverb stuff with some sweet ass drums underneath and parallel compression. I was jamming at work one day and everyone thought I was crazy, nodding my head so much. Weird being the only black guy in a game development studio. No one really listens to non commercial music so when I introduce em to teebs or Hudson Mohawk, flying lotus and samiyam, they think I'm a weirdo and say the music has no structure. But in actuality they all can eat a bag a dicks.

when performing live i'd say I use DJFX a bit, but same for tape echo, isolator, reverse and bitcrush. you just gotta find your way doing it I guess.

well the first track is by mono/poly, 2nd is his (i overlooked it first). and yes, he is using lowkey methods here but basically he conducts whole live acts with it, with a more to-the-core manner. be it built up hit-by-hit or sometimes tossing in loops and just put fx on it. i see samplers as a tool, not as a samurai challenge :) when it calls for fx twitching, that's that. when it calls for drums being liveplayed, then do that. both can work and i assume most bedroom musicians agree with me, who are not really into performing, but gotta do something to be on stage (and of course, kill press-play-on-laptop 'gigs' with fire:)
