Yo mecha's right-i never saw this post..sorry hoon..why no one replied? I actualy thin there's something a little not-right w this jackal dudes posts so far--could be wrong..Personally i've been making shit on and off since 96-but never ended up holding on to equipment for too long-nad didn't know what i was doing...in 01 had an st for a year or so when i finally learned to chop-got another one in 05,and finally made my first decent beats w/ everything i had learned over the years, and all the time i got to just sit snd think about beats without equipment.got the sp-in 08..& that's where i'm at now..my first 2 pieces of gear between 96-2000 were an eps 16+ and an original eps-in 2000 i finally learned how to chop up drums (i never had the net,or ahyone to teach me shit in those years)-but still didn't do much more than looping w my samples...it would be nice to get a 16+now though-for its raw sound, and the fact that i could really flip some shit on it now.not to sound too cliche-but it's been a long interesting journey-& I'm still learning every time i sit down to work on something..there's nothing else that could possibly help me escape from the day to day like beat making & digging.

The eps is dope and mad grimy sounding-i think its 13 bits, could be mistaken.but it has very limited sample time-a little more than a sp-1200 ,but not much more-i think something like 20-30 seconds...the 16+ has about a minute of sample time and still pretty much the same grit to it-but 16 bit..the asr is much cleaner sounding but obviously has much more sample time-these machines are well known, but still slept on as far as how many people use them compared to mpc's-i really don't understand why-mpc's just kinda unjustly became the standard-but the whole keyboard aspect puts a whole nother angle on making beats-and your samples can be pitched out on the keyboard, and played like a keyboard, really dope.better for playing basslines too. They all have mad efx as well.theres also a lot disks out there you can get with really dope key sounds and synths, basses & shit for the eps or asr. This new korg micro sampler is somewhat comprable-i was gonna cop one,but it's lacking a few important features so i decided it really wouldn't be worth it. But yea-eps' and asr's are going for pretty cheaply on ebay now-i'd definitely reccomend picking one up to anybody if it's in their means.
