i will try to explain myself best as possible, about my situation, so maybe someone can help me,

I have a toshiba satelite L300. everything works fine except the sound card and windows mixing software, the problem is, that the onboard mic doesnt play thru the sound card, it records but it doesnt monitor, this makes my computer almost useless for me right now, I did a million google searches and found out that toshiba has a deal with realtek and microsoft, to disable the mic monitor with a registry hack or a line of code in the driver, im not shure. So i did a million more google searches and found out that lots of people have this problem but no one has been able to solve it yet, i found this post on some message board that if you use VLC media player, then go to options- capture audio, then press play, bam the sound comes thru but theres an awfull 1 second latency, this is fine i can work with this, so i guess here is my question, can someone who has knowlege about programming or hacking, check out this VLC program and go to options capture audio then play.. and run it thru a debugger or some sort of bit stream capture or event viewer or whatever, to find out what VLC does to allow the mic to play thru., toshiba disabled it to prevent the built in mic from feed backing with the speakers. its ok if no one can help me, because i ordered a usb sound card but it wont be here for 2 weeks, i bought it specificly because it says , MONITOR INPUT. :)

Trying using this generic asio driver to reduce latency with onboard sound cards. http://www.asio4all.com/ it's for windows machines.

I use a mac so can't test out the vlc thing for you. I do use the app to play vids and mp3s, but never knew it could record.

sounds like you got windows 7 or vista. they started putting these shitty ass soundcards in laptops. I bout a laptop and found out it was useless for music.
something with the sound mixer and the setup. I was good with the old school sound mixer interface with all the faders n shit. now, my soundcard has a separate slot for windows media player when it is open. Its weird, but trust me man, dont even waste ur time trying to figure it out, otherwise you'll waste about 16 hours on it. Thats how many i think i invested in it after trying and stopping a few times. usb soundcard and you'll be good, should have one anyways, line in usually blows and your interface might even help with your latency, tho the asio4forall is pretty good.
FUCK COMPUTERS AND UPGRADES.
windows xp was all good, then came gay ass vista, then windows 7 and a bunch of stupid changes.
mac went from powerpc based processors to intel based, now i cant even rock a bootleg reason 5.
such bullshit!
