and-o, it is a lot of money no doubt, but it is such a deep and complex device it is totally worht that money. think of it as a microkorg + mpc+ radio + mic condensed into a giant chocolate bar with a 16 hour battery. ... thats about it.
on my soundcloud there are 4 tracks that I have been exclusively making with that device. it is powerfull and it keeps delivering!

hmmm, maybe I will get one sometime down the line. I'm trying to make a few sp303 beat tapes in these up coming months anyways.

OP-1 COSIGN!

I use mine in pretty much every track I make lately. The synth engine has enough sounds and parameters to keep me happy for a long time, the tape sequencer is weird / challenging / awesome and the sampling is flexible enough to do some light sound design. Also the effects are unique (SPRING REVERB WHAT UP).

Plus I use that little Swedish beast as a midi controller. I'm selling multiple pieces of studio gear because I feel the OP-1 replaces them, so it's pretty much paid for itself in my world. MPC x SP404 x OP-1 is 99% of what I do these days. Lovin it.

I mess around with routing one to the other. It's good for "end recording", since the OP-1 has 24bit sampling there's a lot of headroom for complete tracks. Most of the time it'll be MPC into SP into OP. Drums / sequencing then Effects / other samples then Arranging / Edits. The tape sequencer isn't the easiest to use for precise edits but it's fun and different. Never owned a real 4 track but I heard it's what they were aiming to emulate. The OP-1 lets you slow down the tape or speed it up when you record, which corresponds to altering the bit depth / quality of sound. So if you want to really fuck up the sound you can record it in way slow mode and then play back at different speeds. Good for adding grain and grit to drums.

Sorry to gush but I love the little rascal.

it contains drums and instrument libraries. And about a 1000 vintage videogames (sounds) hooked up to the 303 mic-in.

yo kalaba- how's the mpk mini? i can't decide b/t that and the korg microkey. the korg is enticing b/c its 3 octaves, like the microkorg. i like the option of pads though on a controller, but i don't want a hassle assigning knobs and stuff. easier is better for me

its cool man. Nothing like real MPC (MPD24) pads. But it works pretty neat. Plug n play. easy knob assigning, arpeggiator.

komsat, didn't know you were also in the boat! congrats man - and those pics are awesome.

I have an idea: bridge, you and I should meet up at the north pole and jam out the funky beats with 3 wireless conneted op-1s... after the first stable os release of course!
man that would be so awesome!

btw. I just installed the latest os (my op1 froze yesterday so I just went for it despite the warning from TE) and the internal resampling opens so many doors! I can finally eq with in the unit and compress. I hate to say it but I might let go of sp303 soon. the only thing I keep it for is the vinyl sim and some resampling and routing. might get a small mixer instead.

OP1-Forums.com in the haus. I updated to the latest OS and then got an email a day later saying "Don't update to the latest OS we just sent out!" No other explanation. :? Uh...thanks guys. Haven't had any issues with yet though.

Also man I'd hold on to the 303. I mean they don't make them anymore, they're made in Japan (qualitay!) and how much would they fetch on craigslist anyway? I bought one recently and I use it on all my drums now. Man actually sell me your 303 if you get rid of it, I'll start collecting the discarded SPs as people switch over to OP-1s and do a live set with like 10 of em on a pedalboard.
