i am not defending this web site specifically. i was just using it as an example of info that seemed to rationally go against the "people who won't eat stuff from microwaves are idiots" point of view, which seemed overly harsh. that's all. like i said, i have & use a microwave.

i could go for a nice fuck salad right about now... =)

Persimmon, Pomegranate and Pecan Salad

Ingredients:
• 1 large pomegranate
• 4 ribs celery
• 2 small persimmons (or 1 large)
• 1/2 cup pecan pieces, toasted
• 8 ounces mixed baby salad greens, washed and spun dry
• 1 large lemon, zest grated
• 1 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil
• Kosher salt
• Freshly ground black pepper
• 1/4 to 1/2 cup crumbled feta cheese (optional)

Directions:
To remove the pomegranate seeds, make a cut near the blossom end of the fruit, submerge the pomegranate in a bowl of water and pull the fruit apart with your fingers. The seeds will sink to the bottom of the bowl. Discard the fruit; drain the seeds and set aside; there should be about 1/2 cup.
Use a mandoline or a V-slicer to cut the peeled celery on the diagonal into paper-thin slices, then transfer to a large salad bowl along with any of the celery leaves. Core the persimmons, cut them vertically into quarters and then crosswise into 1/4-inch slices; add them to the bowl, along with the toasted pecans, salad greens, reserved pomegranate seeds and strands of lemon zest. Drizzle in the oil, squeeze in some lemon juice to taste and season with salt and pepper to taste. Toss to combine and sprinkle with cheese to taste, if desired. Serve immediately.

If you put water in a container that has a flat edge and heat it for about 5 minutes and break the surface tension of the water with say a tea bag or spoon, it will explode from being superheated without boiling.
I buy my produce at the farmer's market in berkeley so I'm not worried about my salad, but I feel what you're saying man.

Yup, I do agree with that last point you made. I probably would comment on it one last time, but I feel it's more appropriate to just let it die now.

Ultimately it all comes down to the amount of trust you (or I) put in your (or my) sources, which was your point if I understand correctly. :)
