thats one of my fav combos now running drums through sp 12 and dumping into maschine. working on a tape full that now
I LOVE my sp12, even more than the sp1200. Sure its got 5.3 seconds less sample time but its built much better, saves everything internally so no disks, and about half the price...I sold my 1200 cus I get by just fine with the 12 using it with maschine, sp 303 and my other samplers. I cant wait to check out your maschine/sp12 tape. Cheers!
peace. thats crazy u sold the 1200. but thats true its only a extra 5.2 seconds. I gotta questions about the outputs. on the 1200 if you have the chord half out of i think output 8 it puts a lo pass filter on sound. can u do the same with the sp 12. my 12 had alot of repairs so i'm not sure if everything works correctly.lol I like to hear your sp/maschine combo beats as well

As far as I know but I'm not real sure because my sp12 has the mod switches above each output so ya just flip the switch to turn the filter on or off. I think it would be the same for the 12 & the 1200 though.

Yeah, it is rare to see someone choose the SP-12 over the 1200. This is why I love talking gear. As much as I agree with the philosophy that it isn't what gear you use, it's what you do with it, I think it's so interesting that every producer has a unique outlook on each piece of gear that they've used. What is best for some isn't best for all, and I like talking to producers about the specifics of each piece of gear that resonates with them. The 303 is a perfect example. I couldn’t do anything with it so I traded it in for a 555. Clearly I didn’t understand how powerful the 303 is and in a way I regret not giving it more of a chance.

Thank you all so much for supporting this interview. It is already one of the most viewed posts I've ever done on my blog. Clearly more people need to be writing about the SP community.

big shoutout to DJ Sorce-1 for his time and effort.

as a dad/husband/beatmaker i can relate to Dibiase's shift..it gets hectic sometimes. great to see the man stays making the right decisions.

@Dibia$e: That was some clever shit using 2 tape decks to layer sounds through your gear...gonna have to try that and see where I end up. :)

weyyyyyyyy i know it doesnt matter at all in the grand scheme of things but if Dibia$e uses a hardware sampler/maschine combo now maybe you lot will warm up to the idea of it

like i said the inspiration on the hardware is second to none but the sequencing and what you can do with maschine means you can get the full potential out of the beat

Personally, nothing hooked up to computer interests me anymore. I spent 10 years making music on computers (1999-2009) almost exclusively. Hardware's a nice change of pace for me. ;)
