and shit... for snoop, it's a really fresh approach. almost a natural progression of g funk uber heavy bass... just 15 years later.

yeah i actually like dubstep but chase and status are fairly shit. overly produced crap style. their sound reminds me of everything that went wrong with drum n bass.

a lot of dubstep really annoys me though. it tries way too hard to be dark with "oops it's already rinsed a million times" horror movie samples, coupled with overly digital sounding bass. i fucking love dubstep, but a load of trendy wankers basically jumped on the bandwagon and now 90% of it is shit.

ive listened to it for quite a while and i dont really see it that way. thats what makes dubstep what it is, its the most versatile dance music, theres always something different out there for you to find. some people bring dnb to it, others trance, others hip hop, others reggae, etc. thats just the way it is.
but 99 percent of hip hop is shit, 99 percent of rock is shit, but its those 1 percent that makes the genre not all the copycats.

if you didnt hear c&s all the time, and you heard indian dub next to 16 bit "in the death car" youd think they were the same producer. 16 bit gets more praise for reasons i cant understand either, i like them but its basically in the same style of the shit people bash.

the point is SNOOP DOGG MILLIONARE is the shit. because its just people having fun (you can almost smell the blunts coming out of the vocal takes)

chase and status are good clean producers but most of their stuff is just bland and forgettable. just like this rather annoying tune.

i can see why a lot of people have jumped on the dubstep train. it has become increasingly trendy to be seen as liking it, and recently it seems to be hitting a sickening peak. because of this over-saturation a lot of it sounds like shit.

i love hip-hop and i like dubstep. but god forbid i do not want to see a million back packer bedroom producers making beats with wonky drums and wobble bass.

you must be from the uk because barely anyone knows about it in the us...its not popular enough to be "trendy". play it for kids and most likely theyll just say its shit. when i walk into urban outfitters and hear burial...then its over.

if you get your panties in a wad over kids liking the same music as you, then why bother making any music at all, just hand out to your closest friends and make a new elitist scene... oh wait thats uk funky

what are you talking about? you've just made a whole load of assumptions there just because i didn't agree with you on something. i happen to think that chase and status are shit, they are boring. their stuff is very good on a strict production level, but it's boring and unoriginal.

there is a difference between something being trendy and something being popular. dubstep has undoubtedly become trendy recently. you have the audacity to call dubstep the most versatile type of dance music out there? are you being serious? just because you like a genre doesn't mean it is the "best".

140bpm, bass heavy.

like i said i like dubstep, but calling it the most versatile dance music genre is laughable. there aren't even that many great artists in dubstep at the moment. the best stuff seems to be influenced by minimal techno, or seems to be be coming off hyper dub.

im not taking shots at you directly dude im just saying

why would anybody care if something gets popular? the "you" was ambiguous.

there was no negative qualities in my message aimed at you. maybe it sounded like that but i dont feel i have to edit myself to sound nice and clean and be afraid of offending people.

i said that dubstep had become more trendy, therefore it attracts more people who are only into the music because it is cool (read trendy). this results in a lot of up and coming producers making crap dubstep tunes, already established dubstep producers altering their sound to appeal to this new larger audience.

i never mentioned anything about not liking it because it wasn't popular. stop making assumptions.

you then made a remark about some elitist music and closet friends, the apparent opposite to what is trendy.

i like music that is a lot more popular than dubstep is, or ever will be.

i, and most people who are mature and actually like music, have no problem with enjoying music that is popular amongst other. i hate elitist bullshit. but it would be extremely naive to deny that there is a direct connection between an artistic shift in direction in certain genres/scenes/artists when they become more popular.

i just said im not taking shots at you directly dude. i never made any assumptions. loads of dubstep producers are afraid of it catching on in america for reasons you detailed. thats not an assumption. we definately agree on 90 percent of this, just from the way you put things it didnt sound like it :D

and only the british say wonky :D

i know what you mean. tbh i agree with you (except for my personal dislike of chase and status, but that is just my opinion).

i knew about a lot of UK heads and dubstep guys not wanting dubstep to blow up and that is incredibly annoying. some people are part of something and want to keep it underground and to themselves. that to me is basically the elitist bullshit mentality.

i guess a lot of dubstep has been disappointing me as of late and i like to jump on the "i hate dubstep because it's trendy" bandwagon sometimes. when i got into it, i remember i thought the sound was so raw and exciting. but now it's like everybody is just copying each other and nobody is being unique.

excision and datsik stuff is very dnb-y....not to metion pendulum said their next album would be going into the dub area  . but i think the good guys are out there, even if its just a mutation of dubstep mixed with hiphop like flying lotus. but the upside of the saturation of the genre is that DJ's can actually play an interesting role by sorting through the shit so we dont have to.

and if that fails ill just go back to bumping breakbeat science and the new burial/fourtet

this is as uneducated as someone coming in and saying:
dubstep...all the same

there's a HUGE variety of sounds/styles in both minimal and psy scenes

then play skream next to burial....night and day

As a producer, Joker would hit it big in the US. Snoop Dogg should get on with him. It'd fit Snoop Dogg's style well too, being that Joker's sound is heavily influenced by g funk.
