i listen to Kakusei, by Dj Krush a lot, it's filled with detailed drumming and subtle sounds which acts as a blueprint for beatmaking.

just gotta copy of slum village fantastic vol. 2 instrumentals on wax...great buy. some of the best beats ever created on that LP. Dilla murdered everything he did.
