What do you guys think?
Should we try sth. different for our little battle anniversary?
I always wanted to know how you guys might sound with outside drums (maybe bass as well) and pitch function...
Could we give it a try just this one time? Or do you think it's bullcrap and we should keep it like it is? (free hash cake for everybody that's down for 'change' )

i dunno man, because where does it end if you start allowing outside stuff....ive heard battles on other forums and the entries have NOTHING in common whatsoever. its ridiculous, one of them they give you like 10 songs worth of samples, it just turns into like everyone making the songs they would have made anyway without the battle.

maybe something like an 808 kit that you could use from song to song as a standard or maybe a pack of bassnotes chromatic for 2 scales

I think that such idea is not bad at all.

Maybe it'll encourage more ppl to participate in our "anniversary battle".

You've got my support Wax

i agree that it might get more people to join if we allowed some outside stuff, and i know that for kicks and bass us subsonic users have an advantage. but if we change it up i'm still going to limit myself to just the sample and break cuz i love the challenge. i am all for the idea of having maybe some sine waves as stock sounds for use with the battles, but if it was up to me i would stop there. or maybe each battle should have a sample, break, and bass sound, whether it's an isolated bassline from another song or just some noodling on a synth.

Thought I'll get you with the hash cake drew....

And how do you guys feel about pitching?
This is my main point actually... There would be many new possibilities if we could pitch the sample and the break; without any additional outside stuff... (Though I would agree on some 808's or sth. else to beef shit up!)

Maybe I should try the stmbb's?! :x

Keep on voting; if you don't wanna pitch give it a straight NO... I'm cool with that...

I dont really care what the others gonna use. I feel pretty confident with my sp ( Im satisfied with what is it capable of ) and I know that whatever the others gonna do (pitch shifting, their own synth melodies etc. ), I know I can still compete with a great chance for winning ;)

On the other hand, those battles are special cuz of some specific rules and without some of those rules, we couldnt call our battles - "SP BATTLES".
But hey, #50 is coming! Let's make it "extraordinary"!

I've been thinkin for a while,

how about a separate battle-
just "open warfare" or sumthin haha.. same idea - one sample, one break,
but let people use all the gear they like..

Not something to do as often as the SP battles though, maybe just once every 10th SP battle, also have a new open battle.
Mainly so i can compete till I get an SP back again

I'd also very much like hash cake

i dont think we should allow everything, because then why wouldnt people just make everything in ableton, fruity, etc. this is a SP battle.

maybe outside timstretching and looping but thats it. seriously though go to other sites that have competitions and youll see the magic of the sp's specialization. i think if you open up the rules it may get one contest to draw more people in but ultimately will push people away from it, because theres really no point without the limitations

im down for something different. maybe allow the use of 4 tracks or multi track recorders on pc's, to free the memory limitations?

sounds good
how bout this....

1. 808 kit
2. chromatic bass samples as standard
3. multi tracking
4. outside pitchshifting and timestretching

i think thats as far as we could take it without pushing the limits
