Man, i just saw this video for the first time today. weird, this is like my favorite song and i never thought to look it up for a video. This song is why i like old school hip hop more than anything thats coming out now, the style, culture and the beats. And the videos were grimy as hell, try and find a hip hop video now without flashing lights and lots of nice clothes. Once they invent a time machine i know where im going. But, Pete Rock is a great producer and i hardly hear anything about him on here so if you dont know about him, look him up, one of the best, his album Soul Survivor is still knockin. I know he rocks Mpc's but he is tight with the basslines and samples like a mofo. His brother Grap Luva been on a bunch of new ish.

Wow, for the first time? It's definitely a legendary track.
Pete Rock is a really good producer in my opinion, mos def in my top 5. You should check out this one album called Center Of Attention from INI, it's got some of his production, plus the whole Mount Vernon crew (Grap Luva, Rob-O, and one my favorite emcees, Mekolicious). It's probably one of my alltime favorite albums :)
I've got mad respect for the man as well, and he's not a bad emcee, either

BTW I remember juxt showing me this video a while ago, you'll probably like it:

I really wish I had been born at least 10 years earlier so that I could really have experienced the 90s hip-hop scene...

Plus the knack to rock, I’m steady heating up the spot
The chocolate boy wonder making heads bop
In slow motion, domes crack open like the pavement
Off some shit I made down in the basement

gotta respect soul brother number 1

mecca and the soul brother was one of my very first tapes. one of the longest albums ever, like 45 minutes almost for each side!
