hey guys - i will open up an "official" player selection thread on monday... 2/2/15

time to get some inpiration for the sample selection - this is more important then the character actually ;)
(that's why i'll free mega man and go with donkey kong - because he had the better tunes to choose from. )

for the characters i'd like to limit you to the lates smash bros roster.
sample i'd say should be from the 8-bit, 16-bit or this time even from the N64.

check the old samples - so we get all new shit in 2015

is there an option to get FX sounds out of the new Smash Bros for the WiiU?
Kel recorded some of the old wii-version and it's been maaad fun to rock those...

Yo guise how about doing a looper:

Turntablists use loopers to practice over, little programs (usually flash) with buttons, each button makes a beat repeat ad infinitum.. usually the loops are a few bars but they can be longer too..

An SP-forums looper would be dope, plus skratchers put up videos of themselves (ourselves) cutting over them and usually credit the looper, so it can generate some publicity. Many skratchers make beats too so maybe some get hooked on SP-s ;D

I would volunteer to make the design/graphicz, I could do a real-ass drawing of SP-s or some shit (so you press the SP-s pads to hear each loop or smth)

There are some specifics to GOOD skratch beats tho... it has to have room for soloing over, so they should be "empty" in a way, but still funky. Best is if they have a minimal but catchy groove witch you can take cues from to build your skratch flow and engage in "dialog" with. So making good skratch beats can be a challenge too, I can post some legendary skratch beats as examples if you´re interested.

Also, I´d be down to make an actual real mix out of tracks from here, a real mix with turntables and cuts, not putting it together in ableton with a mouse, like most "mixtapes" nowadays.. keeping with the spirit of quantize off and live feel...

Do you mean like "scratching"/cutting with the sp over looped drums? Or looping a beat on the SP and scratching on vinyl?

also love the idea of a sp-looper - never liked most of the beats on modern loopers- too clean - too modern...

would be cool to have an sp typish artwork and lots of beats/loops - always get bored by loopers with 6 loops only...

a homie of mine is working on app that allows playing (flash) loopers from your IOS or android mobile - should be finished soon - it's gonna be 100% (ad)free with a few nice features...

for those not beeing familiar with flash loopers check those looper archieves:

Yo I'd be down to make some beats for you to do this if you want :D so basically good scratch beats would be: drums, bass, and one layer of samples like vocals or something to leave room for scratch and maybe freestyles?

Well it just shouldn´t be too busy.. I´ll give some examples of some classics/personals favs
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xNeFcjmz_xc
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dSJ0SCusd_Q

then there´s scratchin on rather dark beats around dubstep tempos:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vg8oEIenwqE
which is dope, these kinds of beats would be welcome too
(they don´t necessarily have to be "dark" though :D)

Don´t have to be just a few bar loops, can be longer with different parts, but not too many parts without drums.

I mean actual skratching with real vinyl.
