err I got a scholarship to Berklee and went for a little bit until I had a nervous breakdown and ended up in the loony bin.

But yeah I had a pretty typical academic/jazz education. It was very helpful but honestly if you just learn how to teach yourself you kinda don't need to go to school. IMO, of course.
