So I recently purchased a Roland SP 404, not the SX version. I have been searching all over the internet and through the owner's manual on how to upload the samples onto the Sampler from my memory card. I have a CF 1GB memory card and a memory card reader, and I have been trying to upload samples that i have chopped on Logic Pro 9. The memory card has a folder titled ROLAND, inside there are 13 other folders, the first 9 are titled BKUP (and these go 1-9) and then it goes to BKUP (and these go A-C), and then there is one folder titled SP-404. I've tried placing them in several of the folders, Is there a certain folder that i need to drag these files to? Or is there something I have to do on the SP-404 to receive the sample info from the memory card? I feel like they aren't being loaded in correctly in some way, they were 16 bit aif files (i can get them changed to .wav if needed) and I believe that those should work, I just have no idea how to get them onto the machine. It's not reading them or maybe I'm doing something wrong, I would greatly appreciate some help figuring out what i need to do, I wish there was a video of some sort showing exactly how to do this step by step process, If you know any i'd appreciate a link.

Thanks,
Winn

i believe you have to put them in the 'root' folder aka the roland folder. could be wrong cause i never use my card reader anymore. its definitely in the manual though go back and look

okay i put the samples in the root folder like it said which is the ROLAND folder, correct? For some reason when i try to upload the samples it keeps saying EMP, and I read in the manual that it needs to be in the root folder or this will happen, but I believe they are in the root folder, so I dont understand what is going on

nah the root is the base directory, the roland folder is one down from the root.

Just click on the card icon in my computer/whatever, and put the samples in there NEXT TO the roland folder. also make sure theyre all setup as per the manuals instructions, aif should be fine tho.

be aware there are kinda 2 wav formats.. its tricky.. certain apps will save in the wrong type, but a wav converter will fix them.

Having said that, .aif I dont think suffers this problem

it should always load all of the samples, unless youre trying to load and the pads are all full already or something
