BEAT TAPE NUMBER 6
Hey! It's been ages since the last SP forums beat tape, we've been chatting over in the battles section about putting together a new tape... It's time to do this!
The theme this time is video games. Here's the deal:
Rule #1: Have to use SP, only 1 allowed.
Rule #2: Use these homemade drums samples.
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/5619960/VidGamesDrumSnip1.wav
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/5619960/VidGamesDrumSnip2.wav
Rule #3: Only video game samples, cannot be past 16 bit systems (ie, use gameboy, atari, snes, genesis, nes and back). You can use several, don't have to cite them all but would be cool to know the main source(s).
Rule #4: Leave out the bass, synths & other instruments, plenty to sample on games. Some vocals are OK.
Rule #5: When your beat's done PM me with a box.net/dropbox.com link (cite the sample sources if you want). Don't post anything online until AFTER the tape's done so we can get it out there 100% fresh.
Edit #1: If you want to make a cover for the tape, go for it. Make something relevent & I'll include it with the tape. I've got a way to make multiple covers work. If anyone can finish a back cover with a day or two spare PM me, I'll give you the tracklist shortly before posting the tape (hint- make a template first & overlay the tracklist once its ready).
Edit #2: Try to submit your beats as wav or aiff files at CD quality or higher, that way the tape's sound quality will be consistent.
Deadline is Friday the 21st of December. That way we can have it as a Christmas present with artwork for the front cover & tracklist. If you can't make the deadline but are keen to make a beat, still do it & PM it to me. We should be able to find a place for late tracks.
Cheers to Blavatsky for setting the rules & posting those drums.

Re: BEAT TAPE NUMBER 6
Just a thought, might be cool if the cover looked similar to an old 8/16 bit game, something like:

or

Only with references to SP, or 16-bit sound instead of graphics etc...mainly just the cool older 80s/90s border/writing w/ whatever in the middle.
I would try but have zero photoshop skillz

Regarding the cover- if anyone wants to do their own cover for the tape, cool! The more the covers merrier. Just make a relevent image you like, I've got a way of dealing with with multiple pics for a single tape.
Don't forget back covers too. Anyone up for this & can through something together in a day or two should PM me & I'll give you the tracklist. Yep, I just edited all this into the first post for the sake of easy reference.

Yo yo,
Just giving heads up about what I'm working on at the moment, any constructive criticism is welcome. Because of course we want a nice cover!:

Oh and Chicka, that's dope!
