Yo, you did a show out in Sparks NV? My family lives in the Reno/Sparks area and I never thought there was a hiphop scene out there..... I've always thought they needed some type of underground scene out in that dust bowl.

Pretty dope EP mang, Spooky Tooth if my fav so far :)

Looks like this is being slept on a little, if you haven't checked it out, do so, it's really nice...Dope samples, drums (& drum programming), chops,etc..-- My favorite on this is spooky tooth but they're all ill,Actally the second joint (i think it was the second) with the strings would probably be a tie as my favorite on here.this is a high quality ep. Peace man, respect

Not trying to start some shit-but personally I just don't get how a release like this can have so fewer views, listens, and feed than something like a video of some cat on a 202 slapping out 16 bars of half/quarter bar string chops to a simple 3 hit drum kit(or sampled break/sequence?).I could say this about a lot of people's projects that they work long & hard on-finish with a dope product comprable to people who make careers out of this-- and get outshined by one beat or video that's really not that impressive-or the other way around-another overrated tape of 30 second 1990 rza throwaway kung fu movie sample beats..or-(gasp!How could he not think the 8 bit is the shizz?) one more tape of video game samples. Sorry.......

dope sounds here. I peeped a few of these the other day, then again this morning...you got a dope aesthetic going on with these beats. They are like a mix of soulful and abstract.

Monkey Meat was fire, prob my fav along with Spooky Tooth

Hey Man was really ill the way you flipped that piano, wish the drums would have a lil more presence in the mix tho

Spooky Tooth was dope too and nice that it was a bit longer b/c you can get into the vibe a lot more. that synth at the end is wicked. props

Vietnam I was really hopin that it was gonna drop like BOOM and just smash my face but it never did...wish you would have developed that joint more

overall man these are some ill joints. your vibes and sample work is outstanding...I would say that you could work on getting your drums a lil more presence in the mix, I can tell you are going for minimal drum kind of sound, but some of these tracks the drums were just too far back in the mix for my taste. so the only constructive advice I can give if you looking for it is to work on getting your drums a lil more power in the mix and glueing everything together more, some of these the sample was dominating like the drum track was playing in the background.

PEACE

by the way, cool diagrams of cells as images that go with the music.

thanks. yeah i have been working on drums a lot lately with that same thought to back me. eq'ing drums and all that shit has been hard for me. giant learning curve, but i think i am improving. thanks for the feedback

No doubt homie! that is just a technical thing anyway, the tracks are dope and you got a perceptible vision with what you are doing

suggestion with drums: EQ is important, but def look into layering, read up on parallel compression or "new york compression" basically you layer a heavily compressed and a lightly compressed version of your drums (usually just kicks and snare) and really fill them out in the mix and gives them great dynamics.

peace

I just found this more of a demo than ep, with the exception of spooky tooth. (there used to be this old 60's group with that name, so I kinda wonder if you lifted a sample from them?). I just wish most of the tracks were longer, and had more to keep the listeners interest, but if they were just some ideas you sat down and tried, then that's cool. I just think all the shorter tracks could have been fleshed out more. The Vietnam track could have had the vocal sample chopped and flipped around, and instead he just rambled the story, and I might have let the story go on a bit, but then a small instrumental break and then some vocal chopping, and yeah maybe some combat sounds to really make you feel it's got Vietnam 1966 all over it. I liked Hey Man's piano samples, but not sure if there's more you can do with it. But keep at it, and don't be afraid to flesh out your tracks some more.
