My first post here so humbly sharing with you all some small fruits from the past month and half down in the Southern Hemisphere winter.

I've been making beats since last year. I make a lot of these little ruff drafts - the next thing is to focus in on them start to finish. The ones on this mix would have had an ASR, a 404sx, a MachineDrum, and a bunch of synths on them.

I'm feeling a range of stuff at the moment: Jeff Mills, Mono/Poly, RedNose Distrikt, Riki Gooch, Seven Davis Jr.

Thanks for all of your collective wisdoms, skills, heat and passion! Good reading in here.

Oh thanks for the sub, man.

Music is the life here. It's been a hard road of soul destroying proportions, walk through the rinser, smash your head on brick wall, celebrate the tiniest breakthroughs then realize on second glance that they are ridiculous. But I feel I may be leveling out on some kind of good plateau at the moment, good enough for me to get my hands into what I am making now, tidy it up, add voice, organic elements, and movement and put it out.

Jeff Mills is a sonic god bro. I am glad someone else on this forum is feeling into him. Talks with aliens.

Poly61 is brilliant! It has a really dirty filter. I have owned a lot of analog polys in the past six or seven years, Junos, Jupiters, Prophets, Akais, Ensoniqs, but I am really happy with this axe. It has a "Detroit" flavour to it, that grimy cosmic combo. One of the most under-rated polys out there (for the price) and I'd strongly encourage any young'un thinking of getting a Microkorg to get on this one instead and get some character in there.

The 404 is a recent acquisition for me and I have found that the Brainfeeder sound that I like, the more lo-fi sound on that label, the filter and EQ on the 404sx gives that instant effect on snares, hihats, claps, fingers etc... Some kind of oily, glistening effect in the high-mids and highs. It's a deep thing this box but I may have to mod it to get balanced outputs as the RCA outputs (and I am using nice connectors) are a bit noisy for me. Maybe bussing it back via SD to my PC is the answer here and use the 404sx as a sketchpad, FX unit, sample diver, and drum machine.

Thanks for the listen! Ever learning.

Right, so starting to discover the soul in the comp of this bitch. Then, slam a master track through MFX12: there you go. Heavy.

damn, the "detroit" flavour...my memory goes to the other genious J Atkins, K Saunderson and D MAy...it has to be a nice synth, then...
