I'm not going to put anyone on blast specifically, but it lessens the impact of the music thread when you gotta wade through a big pile of crap. Some folks post every single beat they uploaded to soundcloud.

Do you feel proud of your beat? Can it stand up with the best of em? No one wants to hear your weak "here goes" beats. Take some time, get better, and only post shit that really is good.

I feel a bit differently..

I think like, people should each have 1 thread for their music or something.. IMO they can post as much crap beats as they want if it doesn't make a million threads about it..

the upside of that would mean that it's easier to follow your favorite SP artists as well by just goin to their thread.. cos I can never keep up with how it is at the moment, people posting titles like "check dis beat"..

whereas if it was like "x's beat thread" it would be a bit easier..

This place is a place for sharing music criticism/thoughts/ideas/developments between fellow producers, not for advertising your latest release to listeners, so IMO we dont need titles like "homeboy x's killer new album get it now from desirable hip selfmade record label name"..

I just think that folks should be a little discriminant of their own stuff. Demand more of themselves. I also don't think the mood of this music section is to receive true feedback or brutal honesty. Its more of a "nice beat, dawg" or "props". Do you think folks would be a good sport if I said, "You need to work on your drums", "the off kilter rhythm here is beyond the good off kilter" or "nice loop over and over"? I wish it was that way, because some of the beats that are getting posted, I wish I could just do the person a favor and shake some sense into em. This is no hate on this forum (probably one of my favorite ones on the whole netz), but I wish it could be a little less polite on the critiques and folks felt a little more pressure to post something they are proud of.

Also, it would be nice if people gave a description of what they did or how they made the beat. What mastering preset did you use? Did you sample a record or play instruments.

I would be very pleased to get constructive criticism.

I have a post for my "extra virgin olive oil" beattape.

Feedback is welcome.

guilty as charged - I will try to do better though.
I do agree on the constructive critizism - altough you have to take in account that writing a balanced critique takes much more time than just writing "awesome beat, OMG!!11!"... I think if someone asks for critzism, post away.
If hes just here to get the "OMG, dope A$z beatz" treatment and you don't like it , don comment and the thread will disapear quite soon.

Word. That said, being constructive doesn't necessarily have to mean telling the person what sucked... it can also be telling them what worked. If the person keeps going, they'll work out the kinks eventually... or they won't, and they'll simply sell the sp in a marketplace thread.

i hope i'm not contributing to the "crap", i guess like some i'm still learning how to mix and master my songs so they sound ok once i post them. i'm open to critiques, and i want to improve my skills. that's one of the best qualities of this forum is the sharing of music and art that takes place!

word, but if you feel that strongly about something you heard it might be best to say so directly. i would think everyone here is trying and posting something they personally are proud of. there's a thousand ways to skin a cat and no way is right. constructive criticism isn't hard but it's easier to be a discriminate listener.

^^^the above comment is the best one on this thread...Obviously people aren't posting beats that they arent proud of in some way,I mean nobody in the world is gonna make some music public that they themselves thinks sucks. And I've always seen quite a bit of constructive criticism on this board, even if it's just a "it woulda been dope if you woulda done this, tried that, more of this, less of that,etc.." . And overall, this forum has a huge ammount of high quality stuff anyway. Also-sometimes people post stuff simply to see what kind of reaction it gets-'cause they themslves might not be sure about it-- Which is evidenced by all those that posted on here like "i hope i'm not one of the ones posting crap..etc.."-which is really kinda fucked up to put that type of insecurity in someones head when they're doing what they love the best they can-in most cases just for fun. I do this all the time-I can think a beat of mine isn't that special at all,and then get a bunch of good feed-or vice versa..it really helps you develop as a beatmaker/producer.As far as the type of feed people give on this forum-while it might not always be too detailed-to put it simply the vast majority of us don't give someone "props" for their beat unless we feel they deserve it..I myself have never gone out of my way to say I liked someones beat unless I really, truly liked the shit-and I think almost everyone of us here does the same. And as said above,it's all objective anyway. Bottom line,it's nobody's place to really come in and say anyone on here "needs to step their game up before posting"-kinda condescending and unneccesarry..'cause really, it's not that serious in the first place. So,yea-everybody keep posting whatever you wanna post-this is a place for growth, learning & fun.

or do you think you are really bestowing some kind of wisdom and showing people the way lol.

with an attitude like that you'd fit in better in a modern art scene or poetry slam scenes. everybody is pompous and douchey in those arenas

only reason i'm being a dick about it is b/c you def made some cats feel small and insecure. hope that made you feel really big and important and superior and all the things you surely are in your own mind at least

^^yea, besides maybe a couple battles where he hasn't come close to being a contender, I can't remember ever seeing admbmb post a beat either. Actually I'm not even positive if he even participated in the 1 battle he set up. Which in itself doesn't give him(or should I say you, admbmb,if you're reading this) any ground to stand on starting a thread like this. But even if one of the most talented and long time contributing members on this forum started a thread like this it would still get a big WTF from me. Definitely pretty douchey, lol. Now I feel like purposely making the most ridiculously bad fucked up ass beat I possibly can and posting it repeatedly.
