ah ok
i relistened the track with the monitors.
maybe the "synth parts" are a little bit over the bass volume.
try to re-eq the things and it will be better.

cool. I might fix it later but I will keep that in mind when I do my next project.

I just wanted get a second opinion, in case I was being too critical.

Thanks man.

No, everything was only tracked through the sp for fx and resampled at the end to add some static fx. But the track is only made up six 16bar measure recordings, so I guess I could of done everything on the 404. It was nothing too fancy. I was just experimenting/practicing some chord work and key changes and ended up with this little bump.

I've been trying to lay off the sp fx though, I feel like I've been over using a few of them hahaha.

cool track. I know what you mean bout the bass synth. I use them pretty frequently and it always fucks with my ear as far as how its sittin in the mix...working pretty good on this track altho maybe it could a bit tighter and dirtier sounding if you know what I mean. I know what you mean bout the sp efx, they def encourage you to go overboard..buttons begging to be pushed and knobs sayin crank me to the right son

just listened again at home with some decent monitoring - the bass is not muddy, just a little mid scooped / nasaly, which I think fits the dreamy lofi mood perfectly. actually you could pump up the bass a notch more I think. on the other hand my adams are a bit on the lean side regarding DEEP bass tones so take my advice with a grain of salt.

again - very strong work, I like it very much!

Hey dude, is it muddy a little bit, does that make it sound warm and good me me yes! You just need some compression and limiting to get it bumping on the master it sounds a bit "Dry" in that respect. Good song, good warm mix but I need that pump!

Hey guys thanks for the love and the tips.

I guess being overly critical of your own work can be annoying at times hahaha. I spent 2 hrs trying to get the bass line to something I'd like and then after it was all said and done I was like..."mann the bass sounds kinda muddy now :(" lol

I wasn't sure of putting a compressor the master track cause I already parallel compressed the whole thing already. But I will keep that in mind on the next one.

Now on to the next experiment

I don't know how you mix but I have the luxury on my mixer of having two effect buses, one of them I usually use for compression of the bass and kick drum...that way you can tighten the dynamics up as you wish and ALSO get the kick to duck the bass by having it come in hotter...if you are all on the SP it's gonna be hard to take jus the bass and compress it or it along with the kick...altho I think it can be done.
