Not bad for a first shot

Need to build some kind of progression into the track..at the moment its just 1 element->2 elements->cutoff down/up.. listen to trance to figure that see how they do that..

You have the main melodic part sorted.. but before you give people that you need to en-trance them (hypnotize!)..

To start with you have no rhythm tracks, which play a big part in said hypnosis.. lots of little rhythm tracks.. (you need quite fine EQ / mixing control to do this.. bandpass filters/etc are your friend!) kinda makes it hard to do on an SP unfortunately... bear in mind rhythmic doesn't mean drums.. it could be short gated synth patterns/etc

So basically.. the hypnosis part.. is about building up loops over time.. layer upon layer.. your mind kinda keeps following them, but the following of the current loop becomes subconscious once the mind is focusing on the next loop.. then once you've got the mind en-tranced... you start to bring in the 'feeling' parts of the track (the main melodies/chords, etc) . .. which have a much bigger impact because of the psychological state the listener is in.. (words have a much bigger impact too.. just putting a single word sample in at the right point can paint an entire picture within the persons head)

This is the power of trance/techno/house/etc :) (and why alot of people don't 'get it')

The subconscious-loop-following is what makes dancing such an integral part of it too.. the bodies movements synchronised with the hypnotic loops.. throw in drugs that increase suggestability and light shows also syncd to the music.. and you have a very, very powerful tool!

Sorry for the rant.. it's something I am really fascinated by..

By the way.. my gullet is highly advanced..

thanks bruv i will take some of those comments into effect. unfortunately this isn't really a first try, and i didn't do anything on an sp

more of an expose' of the synth i built. It may sound like an ARP but I actually played that keyboard part and quantitized it a little bit

yea i threw it down pretty fast it was meant to be more minimal like housey-ish to put the emphasis on the synth and leave the band wide open for discovery

i just liked the break i think it gets old after 1:30 second mark without adding anything rhythmically, but i did design the sound and play it with teh keyboard so it's not a sampled song
