i was planning to release 60 minute cassettes of my next album, but then realized that i would rather release 2 short albums, one on each side of the tape. The first album is the B-side, titled "Stardust To Earthcrust" and is set to release on 2/22. Here's one of the songs - https://soundcloud.com/chopperman/chopper-time ..The second album, FEATURING DUDLEY PERKINS, will disperse early this spring and is called "Muzak" and here's why, same as i explained it in the audible art show album on imgur..
A while back I sent a some music to Dudley Perkins and he said he liked it and offered to provide a hook for one of my songs at a reasonable price. I'd been working crazy hours, saving some extra money for the first time in my life, and decided to splurge this once. Dudley is one of my all-time favorite artists. Still, I won't lie.. Dude took a while to send the hook. Can't be mad at him though because when he finally sent it, it was well worth the wait. Also can't be mad at him because he's Dudley Perkins, ya know? His sonic light has guided me through some of my darkest nights. Like this jam, for instance - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VOZ93UE-Td0
Anyways, once I finished the beat that seemed right for the collab, I began writing these rhymes for it..
bask in the blast of the boom bap
jamming's natural as a whole foods rack
asking the cat to craft a new slap
is like asking to laugh, i have to do that
imagining life without its too sad
like imagining life without this muzak..
see how i spelled muzak wrong so that it would rhyme? well, after writing that, the word spelled that way looked familiar, but i couldn't remember where I'd seen it before. So I googled the word, and the first name that came up was none other than Dudley Perkins. It was the title of one of the songs on his 2003 album, A Lil' Light. After finishing writing and recording the verses, I sent it over to him, telling him about the coincidence and mentioning that he could do a rendition of the Muzak hook on my beat. He did just that, and very well. I can't help but include that after recording the hook Dudley sent me the message, "this one is really growing on me". It made my life.
