A few years back I found a record called "Music for Zen Meditation" by Tony Scott, Shinichi Yuize and Hozan Yamamoto. I liked it so much I sampled it for 17 beats and called them my Zenstrumentals. About a year later I decided to search for some vocals for them. I went back to the same store, Half Price Books, and checked the "spoken word" section of records finding only one album, "Dusk and a Voice Singing" by Osbert Warmingham a.k.a. Kodaya. It fit so well I couldn't believe it. His words and cadence seem perfect for these beats. I was both saddened and delighted to discover how obscure he has become. The delight was from the amazement of the coincidence of that record being there, then. These poems are some of my favorites. I hope they become some of yours.
