does anyone have any experience using spectrum analyzer to check frequencies of sounds? i got some beats that bang in my whip with the ten inch sub, headphones, and room but when homie took them to the studio he says they have no bass whatsoever.. i run them through the spectrum analyzer and the bass frequencies peak and run hot around the 20hz to 150hz range.. any ideas?

i compared the beats to other shit that has mad bass as well and it bumps next to those as well fyi

i dont think spectrum analyzer is very usefull for bass, you might be better off using a decibal meter and make shure your bass registers nicely and doesnt rumble your subs to much then you should be ok, i think spectrum analasys is more usefull for things like maximising and mastering to get a full body sound id love to type more about this but my keyboard isnt working right now for typing

is it possible your homies got a poor ear for this and is expecting some boooooooomin sub tone bass that they use in those shitty radio beats??? or possibly he has the bass lowered drastically in his 'studio' because he is always listening to stuff that is way over the top bassy?? i mean if you think it sounds good in all those varying places and he says it has no bass, it makes me think somethin is up

maybe your boy is deaf lol that sounds fishy. if anything go to the studio with him and listen for yourself. bring one of your comparison CDs with you, see if he is deaf or an idiot or maybe both

maybe he has his monitors positioned up against a wall. I know that when i make a beat i start with my headphones on and the bass is booming. Once i turn on the monitors to hear it, the bass is gone or just there but not pumping like it was in the headphones. Maybe thats it. If he is using monitors.

i think monitors are usually to thump bumpy and when you use them incorrectly they can destroy an era of your music making easily, going along thinking thats what your shit sounds like ,when really its something complely diferent like shit thats mad quiet and you can only hear some thumping. i think they should be off the ground and if possible pointed in strange upward angles that point at your head, this is the only way ive been able to monitor with monitors , if they are on concrete will effect the sound . i dont like monitors, they are heavy and too loud , even when you amp is down it just blasts uneven sounds all over the place , your much better off with some decent cheap ass bookshelf speakers or a decent amp and car speakers, 6x9s fuckin rule i use those for street rap busking you can hear it for 2 blocks. then when you get closer you hear the bass blast. ha anyway i use a ghetto blaster with a rca auxilary in and im having the best quality ever.
