almost everyone in the battle here resamples a drum kick or something like that and puts fx on it, among other sounds. or some make drums from voices and such.

Wow, I just figured this out and I'm using it like crazy. I make copies of a tone, then change the pitch. I do this like 8 times for a tone so I have a scale. But you gotta remember that you can't use the original tone, because all the other tones aren't as good-sounding as the original. Never underestimate the 404's pitch control...

hey, it's ok with your sp-404? how it goes?

anyway i feel more comfortable using chromatic ps (both in the sp 303/404) than the pitch shifter fx... i think it rescpect more the nature of the pitch...

cheers

I use the cromatic ps to build chords and the pitch shifter to make basslines or lead lines.
With resample you can build complex chords.

if i have AA batteries in the sp404 while the adapter is plugged in, does it still eat battery power?

no it will not, but if you are running on battery and then plug the adaptor in it will restart.

i record multiple resampled parts of my playing other sounds. later, i piece them together. i rarely use the sequencer, though if i am really convinced i am on to something i will make the effort.

damn that's a good idea, the only thing is not having a quantize at ur disposal, or the ability to erase, although you can hone in on a specific part with the mark button. I usually just play around with the resample and than get the basic idea of the beat and what tempo it should be in. i'm trying to find away to record into an ipod so i can funnel patterns out of the 404 to the ipod than back into the 404 via the line in, so i can use it to make an actual 64 pattern i think the highest i did legitimately was 8, also to make better use of a 1 gig card.

I've never heard of such good things about the the pitch shifters. There are tons of posts in here about people avoiding them. Nice to know that some people make use.
