yo sp-heads! we all know that sometimes the 404 hides some obscure secrets :D
i've noticed a strange thing when i was loading my beatz saved in the internal bank (not c/g, d/h, e/i, f/j but the 1-12 back up) sometimes the 404 plays the samples in the reverse mode... but i didn't save them in reverse! do you have noticed something like that? it's a big pain in the ass!

Sometimes I've loaded a backup and when I press the pads I hear both
the old sound and the new loaded sound. This is the hidden drum layering feature that appears randomly and only me, madlib and a few other guys know of.

If you don't like the layered sounds the power switch will be your friend.

yeah plexx i've had the same thing happen, you load a back up to the internal, and there were already samples on the pads, if you don't switch out banks and just start playing the pads on the bank you were in when you pressed load (has to be internal) they all seem to have a quick clip of the old sample before the new one, but if i jump to a different bank and then go back it goes away

...anyway, Madlib is overated. I am a fan but, it has become a trend. shit, I would say IIIII's beats are way hotter than anything I've heard from Otis.

haha Dorkus the madlib thing was a joke. He's a great guy but overhyped indeed.

DREWDANK hmm.. I tried to explain :) It's not really any useful feature - more like a glitch or a bug. If you load a backup to the internal bank you might hear the sounds you had there already plus the new loaded sounds playing at the same time.

This makes sense as it overwrite the internal memory, I guess the memory caching used in the SP-404 doesn't cover the entire load process of a full back-up when it needs to overwrite samples at the same time. This explains why it's gone when switching banks and back again, as it's the internal memory causing this.
