I own a numark tt1650 direct drive turntable. It produces so much static to the point where it over powers the sound from the record. I've tried using the affects on my mixer to filter the noise, but that drastically warps the sound. I'm pretty sure it's not the cords, mixer, or the needle. And I know all my records aren't that beat to hell. Does anyone know how to get rid of this static so I can sample some records??? :(

is the needle dead? or covered in gunk/dust?
is the weight set properly for the tonearm?
is the ground wire attached?

just a few thoughts
