I made some dub and 2 step shit in fl that used 16 bar patterns, which for the dub tunes is like 8 bars anyway seeing as the drums are programmed halfime at 140....

But yeah on the sp i dont think i ever do more that 4 bar patterns lol

yea 4 is pretty much standard...

i was talking sp specific too :D

sometimes just loads of 1 bar loops is fun

but then you need like 32 of them

I did, but only because I had a bassline figured out that was like 32 bars.

I am not someone who really can do lots of complicated drums in one go though, so there was a lot of fixing involved and I definitely need something to get my timing right. Be it a metronome, or a hi hat pattern.

I know some cats online that can do awesome live drumming though, using like ten fingers at the same time. I'm sure they can do many more than 32 bars. :)

I guess practice makes perfect, especially when you're going to play a sampler like a true instrument. 8)

Started with 1, then went to 2, now it's usually 4 or 8. If I'm doing something abstract it's usually 3, 5 or 7 bars. I don't think I've ever gotten over 8 bars yet, though...

I typically use 8 bar loops. I have tried recording 16 but end up forgetting where I started and either record over a performance or come one or 2 bars short of a full loop.

i very rarely make anything outside of 2-4bars, usually just 2bar loops. lots of variations/breaks though, keep it intersting when tracking out.

not on the 505 because it has an 8 bar limit. stupid

I used to bang out like 64 bar sequences on my su700.

not because I'm mr whatever. the sequence editing on that machine is rough
