I was recording samples from my laptop using the headphone out jack with a line in/out chord. It sounded horrible when I played the sample back through a p.a. I just realized that using the USB to record from the laptop to sp-555 produces better sound/less loss in sound quality. Is there a better way to transfer music from laptop to sampler in terms of keeping the sound quality in tact?

When playing live is there a better way to run the sampler to the P.A. beyond the red and white line out chord that ends with a quarter inch cable?

I'm new to this and would appreciate any help.
Thank You

Are you positive you have the proper audio cable to sample from your computer to your SP? It should be an 1/8" to RCA (iPod cable).
If you stick headphones in that same computer output do you hear good sound?

To a PA: You might want to get some high quality RCA to 1/4" cables- thick and shielded- like Monsters for instance. Remember it's unbalanced so the longer the run the more of a chance you'll get unwanted noise.
The best option is some short as possible RCAs to a stereo DIRECT BOX, then XLR out to the PA.

Make sense?

Thank you very much. I have another question.
What exactly does unbalanced mean?
Also, I am trying to connect my Alesis SR-16 drum machine to my Sp-555. The drum machine has two dual 1/4 outputs. Should I get a monster dual 1/4 to RCA cable for the best sound?
it has two aux 1/4 outs and two 1/4 (main left, main right) outputs. What configuration would be best?
Thanks a ton

Why not post this in the Sp-555 section?

I answered your other question. Double posting kinda makes you look like needy ass noob.
