 Post subject: need major help...dont know where to start with (equipment)

i want to make beats.like hip hop/rap instrumentals.what equip. do i need i also want to use sonar to record (because its cheap).

i was looking at a roland EDIROL PCR-M50 (midi controller)...i have a yamaha midi in/out keyboard.it has "okay" sounds but i want better ones like that guy

how do you those sounds in it like him???what cheap (really cheap) keyboard do you suggest with great sounds in it?

OR if you suggest different equip. then please tell me because i dont know where to start with trying to produce

any other simple and cheap sp's for making that kind of beats of the videos

To keep it really short how do i come about with a (cheap)mini studio using Sonar???

well in that video he's using Reason 3.0 (which is around $400 new? but you can download it illegally), which is a software that has the sounds hes using.. the midi keyboard, just controls the sound from the software. it's a trigger.

well, if you already have a keyboard that has midi, im pretty sure you can use it as a controller. what controller to get? i have no clue, as i have no experience with them
Reason software has a ton of sounds though and definitely works for people on a budget who can't afford the Motif or the Fantom
