I dunno how well the built in search works on here but here's a tip you can use to search this or any site with google. In the google search box just type site:domain (such as sp-forums.com, or hornyfatchicks.org) recording software (or whatever your search for.

Yeah the search works well in my mind. I guess the main thing is that there are so many informative helpful posts here, most questions can be answered if you read former posts. I use Reaper, which is free, useful, and recommend to me by Hematurge. I used Audacity previously and find Reaper to be far superior.
