hey, I havent been making beats for long, but i have a few really simple loop based beats that sound pretty good.
What I was wondering is do you think i should record them for people to listen to?
Basically do you think its matters if a beat is simple or do you think if it sounds good it dont matter how hard the beat was to make?
Thanks....
peace.

If it sounds good enough, it definitely doesn't matter. Even though that's a very subjective thing.

By the way, just to give an example, some of the best rock songs in history were made with only 3 or 4 different chords and somewhat repetitive drums.

It didn't matter. Coming up with good sounding music is the difficult part, whether the music itself is simple of complex to make really doesn't matter.

If with very simple you mean 'repetitive' then there might be room for improvements. Adding slightly more variation usually improves music. It's quite an art to make things fit perfectly, but the best thing is to start out simple and go from there anyways.

Just my 2cts.. :)

It probably depends on what your gonna use it for. If its good and you dont try to pass it off as being more then it is youre good.

Some of the old premier stuff was just some 2 bar loops with a little drums over them, and to me that was some of his best beats. Alot of people over do beats with too much shit, keep it clean and simple is my motto.

If it isn't boring after the first minute or so then run with it.

A very simple loop can be captivating. It's just how you like to do your beats man. I like simple stuff, I don't have much patience and my beats come out dirty rawish and still some people like 'em. So come as you are I would say. And this forum is the place to get good feedback so instead of asking just post some funky shit man!

Had a couple of beers and I'm chilling...the man with the rasta got the best green pasta

i think this was my problem early on. it's hard to say when, pretty much like anything in life; just a little more always seems right. at least until you7ve smoked so much that your muscles are sorer than if you had played 5 games of basketball and you really have the munchies but you just can't stand up to get to the fridge (yet you're already in the kitchen).

You decide, you made the beat if you stand behind the result and you want to share it with others then post it. You are free to make what you want and the moment you share it with others then they are free to like it or not.

Most people couldn't care less if a beat is simple or complex as long as it have them nodding their head or and dancing

What matters is originality first and foremost, don't be afraid to showcase your beats if you're satisfied by them...

Yeah, I consider a beat finished when I am ready to let people hear it.

yeah, there's always this inner feeling that a beat is done even if it's stripped down.
Depends on the situation...haha
