 Post subject: Which software sequencer for this purpose?

I haven't done much software stuff yet. Basically, I just want a MIDI sequencer to play the Ion I have. I think the easiest way would just be to have notes on the y-axis and time on the x-axis and just be able to click in a box to put a note there. I've seen similar stuff for making drum beats but need one for notes. Any recommendations? needs to be free :lol:

I have Sonar LE, Cubase LE, and Ableton Live 6 all free versions.

well I found what I want pretty much. MIDISwing it's called.

It's like a piano roll. You can record MIDI data too which is nice.

Ok that program is cool but I just stared messing around with Ableton Live and that is really cool! That shit just split my head open and I'm still picking up the pieces. Now, where do I buy it. I'm cheap so I just wanna buy an old version. Anyone have experience buying used discs of these kind of things? Or maybe even new from

no def not. i just thought it was weird that someone was still selling an old version of ableton live 4. especially since that was one of the only one's i could find.

The older Ableton versions are likely not to work on Vista and stuff like that.. Still, some of those software packages are mad expensive.
