Lol...no diss but you need to make some actual music for us to hear ...it doesn't matter how much youre going for the hard sell on the latest piece of gear your interested in...just buy the kit and get to work dude ..show us what you've got to give and get up on the good foot like J.B. .or swing out...Sister.

Are you going to keep hold of this particular set up ? ..again no disrespect bro but you know your history with equipment...I'm just saying make sure it's exactly what you want or you'll probably end up disappointed yet again . ..I reckon you could have made some pretty decent stuff with the gear you've already had by now and then traded up...it's not all about losing a bit of money ..if you keep your machines in good condition you won't lose that much at all ...I haven't been able to make any beats, play my synths or even pick up one of my guitars for 6 weeks cause I'm too busy moving cities and tied up with legal conveyancing on my house..its driving me fucking nuts ..I don't know how you can sit there with no equipment man ..you must have some other pretty cool hobbies is all I'm saying ...

Its been quite a while now since you've been a member of this forum..I personally would actually like to hear what you're capable of so go for it bro .

And no Rock Rhythm 4 presets on your tunes ...that's my jam homie .. :D

Looks like they got their hands on a stash of Headphones' glow-in-the-dark-tapes for production, and curiosity got the better of me so I just found it on Bandcamp and listened to the track "Unsubscribe" and thought it was pretty cool!

As for the gear situation; well out of all the gear I have had since being on here, the only two I would have back if offered to me are the Roland SP-404A and the Korg OPSIX, and the reason is simple, it's because out of all the gear I had, those are the only two devices that were a pleasure to use due to their design, and that is and always has been the main thing for me. I just cannot be arsed with gear that needs to be messed around with so much that by the time you have it set up, the idea or mood has gone.

You ask if I would be keeping this setup, well yes that's the whole idea and point of me needing to get it right from the start, it's why it's so important. I don't suffer from G.A.S. like others do, so I am never going to be in a situation of always wanting more gear. But I do suffer from stubborness in as far as I will not be happy until the gear I have is something I can honestly say "Right, these work for me now and will therefore work for me until the day I die. Therefore the only gear I ever need to master, is these.".

If I was famous for example, and someone were to interview me in the future, question me about my strange and limited choice in gear, I would be perfectly happy to say (and would even get a kick out of saying "Yeah, that's right, absolutely every single track I ever made was produced using my faithful old Casio CT-S500 and Roland SP-404MKII.".

To me, that would make for a much more interesting conversation than saying something like "Yeah, I just used a boring old workstation like everyone else does.". So gear snobbery doesn't bother me at all, in fact I thrive on going against it!

Sound quality and usability is why this new Casio is so attractive to me, and paired-up with an SP-404MKII (which is my intention) I'll have a complete production system, and a proper-varied soundset to play with on the same keyboard that has 61 (quality) keys, knobs to play with, and even an old-school chromatic sampling system with on-board sample management. I'll finally have a complete hands-on system that is an absolute pleasure to use (and that's really important).

I mean, you don't need me to tell you why the 404 is such a success, and as far as I'm concerned this new Casio is desirable for the same sort of reasons, it's because it does what it does with minimal effort, old school, with nothing to get in the way.

For now, I'll buy the Zoom R8 to pair-up with the Casio so that it plays the role of a 404 until I can get my hands on a MKII. And I mean even the footprint and physical design of these devices work well together cause for starters the Zoom R8 would fit perfectly on that blank space on the Casio. That same space can be used for the MKII when I get one, so it really is a powerhouse of a combo in a very small footprint considering it has a proper 61 note keybed as well.

But like I said, I'll be keeping the Zoom R8 even when it gets replaced by the MKII, because it just might become a third permanent-use device for me. Regardless of whether I use the R8 or or SP-404MKII, both situations give me a waveform editor for the Casio, cause all I need to do is edit the waveform on those devices and then trigger it into the Casio which will sample the edited waveform and map it to the entire keyboard - just like that!

As for actual music, bruh, I would not get my hopes up on that one. Just because I'll have a rig I am happy with doesn't mean it'll "polish a turd" as the saying goes. I'm completely fucking hopeless as song writing (for now at least), but hopefully this rig will let me work on that.

I'm not saying I cannot develop the knack, but then again I'm not saying I can either, so I guess only time will tell on that one. You will see for yourselves whether I have any chance at producing anything decent when I start participating in the beat battles, so honestly, your guess is as good as mine on that one. I will certainly try hard though!

But once I've gained a bit of skill, my only goal in life regards music is to use it as a means to smash censorship, feminism and wokery right in the fucking face!

I have tracks in mind that are so dark and controversial I will need the help of a specialist solicitor to look them over before I could even contemplate releasing them, but one thing is for sure, I'll produce an album so fucking dark and politically incorrect that censors, feminists and woketards the world over will think the lights just went out, when what really just happened is my album just smashed them in the fucking face like a giant wrecking-ball!

Extra cool of course is these retards will even help publicise the album for me when they go-off on one of their inevitable social media cancel-culture silencing campaigns like they do. Unfortunately for them, I'm already one step ahead of them in that department, too, because I intend to set a pre-order and not release the Vinyl/Cassette until I've already sold my desired amount of copies before-hand, so no matter how hard they try, it would be impossible for anyone (no matter how powerful or how much influence they have), to prevent me reaching my goal and getting my album out there to the sort of people I would prefer to own it (and hopefully treasure it).

The only thing I've not decided is whether I will mix subject matter on a single album and release a string of them, or whether I will dedicate a different taboo to each album so that collectively, they create a sort of box-set of taboos.

I think it's a pretty cool idea, one that I've never seen done before. And if I ever reach my goal, purchasers can rest easy in the knowledge that their purchased hard copy is so notorious they can very likely expect to be threatened just for owning it, and very likely see its value sky-rocket due to its controversality and limited availability.

When it gets to that state, I'll know I did everything right and that all went according to plan 8)

The final kick in the teeth for the censorship and feminist retards will be the liner notes it will contain. Because there will be a very detailed narrative on why censorship of fantasy and taboos along with toxic feminism is killing creativity and freedom. Death Metal art being a perfect example of why these censor-happy feminists and woketards cannot be allowed to continue the way they are doing, and why society needs to deal with them promptly and effectively.

Back to the gear, I haven't ordered either of them yet, because I didn't want them going through the delivery system over the weekend, but I'll be ordering both tomorrow (Sunday) so I should have both of them by Tuesday. As for the SP-404MKII, well I'll just have to wait until they are readily available from stock, then I will add it!

One final thing I will say is regards my OCD, because one thing I have never pointed out is that although I cannot tolerate new gear arriving damaged with scratches on it etc, it's not the damage itself that bothers me, but rather that someone else has done it on something I paid new for. Well fuck that, because it goes against the whole point in paying the premium for a new product.

Obviously the Casio, Roland and Zoom are all going to get worn and badly marked-up after lots of use, but that does not bother me at all, that's different, that's my own doing and I even kinda like it in much the same way that guitarists love the look of those well-worn and played guitars, so I just wanted to clear that up.

So anyway, now you know all my deepest darkest music plans

But long before I reach that stage, I suppose I'll just create a thread on here and upload random bits and bobs to it as I get used to things while I practice getting to know my gear and hopefully develop some playing skills along the way. I can play but only basically. I could not play like the dudes in the Casio video though, no way I can play like that so I will be relying on the technology of the gear to help me get around that.

Anyway, I don't know why I even bother with these epic posts. I don't think many people even read the long ones and I reckon even your your own reply is going to be either silence or ...

"Yeah but no Rock Rhythm 4 preset tho ..."

And by the way, who is J.B.?

And Mr Clyde with the break at 04.58 of course.

"It resulted as a matter of fact, in Brown assaulting his wife with a lead pipe and firing a gun at a car that she was in."

Remember ladies; never forget to wash the dishes after a meal, it is quite uncouth!
(Sorry, just trying to tease and offend the feminists as much as possible)

Seriously though, he must have been a absolute asshole if he really did that, so I really hope he didn't, but yeah I've heard his records many times over the years, talented dude for sure!

So did Casio commision one of his rhythms for their keyboards or something?

Anyway, I can confirm the Kashio family of Japan are a little richer today cause I just bought a Casio CT-S500. I also just bought a Zoom R8 (for less than the usual price I am amazed to say). And because this rig is so damn cheap I've even treated myself to a pair of Audio-Technica ATH-M50X cans cause the Beyers I have are so damn uncomfortable.

I'll try not to home-in on your Rock Rhythm 4 territory bro, but no promises, and anyway, I wouldn't be surprised if you secretly have one of these on order yourself, or plan to!

Headphones too, he should be having wet dreams about it now that he knows it can sample!

"Did Casio commision one of his rhythms?

Hehe ..no they didn't.

Good luck with the new purchases but with all the synths and samplers I already own I'm definitely not interested in anything music related made by Casio.

Some of their G-Shock watches are cool though..I have one of the higher end models myself in my watch collection but that's about it ..I think there's a SK-1 at my Mum's place still that my kids used to play with back in the day but I haven't seen it in years .

As for equipment, the main pieces of gear I'm preparing to shell out for right now are the MPC X ,an original Roland Juno 106 I've got my eye on and an Aspen green Gretsch 5420 hollow body single cutaway guitar with a Bigsby vibrato.
It's a seriously nice instrument that I should be collecting in the next couple of weeks after it ships here from the U.S. as they didn't have that particular colour in store at the time I visited to try one out .

Bruh, the Casio SK-1 is a very sought after sampler, it's iconic, you should try to locate it and take bloody good care of it mate! It was the original sampler for the masses, cause while people were pimping-out their wives 24/7 for 52 weeks of the year to afford a Fairlight, good old Casio were putting SK-1 into the hands of the masses.

I used to be obsessed with watches when I were a teen and in my twenties, so I understand how watch collecting can be addictive, there's something very cool about precision-crafted watches. I took a look at the latest CASIO G-SHOCK stuff today cause you got me curious what the latest were like, and I came across something called CasiOak. Never heard of it yet it's such a big deal that there's bunches of websites out there dedicated just to modding this watch - fucking hell.

In fact, I like that stealth CasiOak (see Photo) so much that I'm actually tempted to buy one even though I already have a Casio watch (Casio F-91W). But yeah, I had no idea there was a whole industry built-aound modding this CasiOak (or Casio GA-2100 to be exact). Not sure I'd want to mod mine, I love that default look of the stealth verison, but damn, that looks so damn good!

Some examples of sites I found:
https://www.casioak.com/
https://casioakmod.com/

And a close-up video of that stealth CasiOak:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iH5989ijnBI

Anyway, we better get back on topic otherwise Headphones might kick our arses (and rightly so), but best of luck with your new guitar and the X if you get it. I still think you'll get a bit pissed off with its workflow and wish you'd gone for an SP-404MKII instead though, especially since you've used SPs for so long. I honestly think that, but I suppose time will tell.

PS: You can't go wrong with an orignal Juno, even ABBA has one so it must be flippin' good

That's a beautifully shot video by the way, so thumbs-up to them for that!
Very enjoyable to look at, just like the watch!

I had a bunch to say, and when I tried to use my snapshot of the tapes, it didn’t go through. Which means everything I had to say wasn’t posted! Well, in a nut shell, they arrived last Saturday, what you see is what arrived, and I’d order again. I had a bunch to say to you SP-User, but it’s gonna have to wait. My bus will be here in a bit. But enjoy the debate for now.

Not gonna lie, it's that "for now" part that has me worried, sounds as if he's gonna have me whacked for derailing his glowing cassette thread or something!

I'm sorry mate

Anyway, my gear arrived so just gonna grab a coffee then take a look :D

Ok, after you two are done pissing on each other for liking 2 different types of gear, and then one of you bitchslapped for not knowing who J.B. is, let's get to the krux of this thread:

Where else can I go (aside from Facebook) to buy some of these gorgeous neon cassettes?

I loathe Facebook. And would have to have my girl use her account to buy shit on there.

There's gotta be some shop online. Hell, they ain't on eBay yet?

And then, back to the gear derailment. For starters, don't shit in somebody's cereal about what they're buying. That's dope if someone finds some gear to do their thing that aren't mimimicing a bandwagon wave of what everyone else is using. Especially if they can do it at a fraction of cost.
The only reason people started buying, then selling Boss SPs is because they heard Madlib used it to do Madvillainy. Before then you could scoop 202s for under $100 easy.

And then lastly, I don't get the use of these digital multitracks. You're recording into it, to then record into computer. Why not skip the gear, and just record straight into computer? Or, hell, record into your phone, for that matter.

It's digital anyhow. Not like you're recording to cassette.

Hey Coop, I don't think anyone was really dissing others' choices, it's all just friendly opinion. We're pretty damn lucky really cause this is one of the few forums I've seen where homies are free to be themselves and often lay into each other (sometimes is quite verbal ways), and I would much rather be a part of that sort of community than one that has a "Like" button system.

If ever this forum gets a "Like" button it will destroy the community. The whole Like Button system was designed from the outset to manupulate the behaviour of society, it was designed to breed sheeple and pack-animal mentality. This is why we face the epic problem of 'Cancel Culture', it is all due to the behaviour the "Like" button has imprinted on society.

Totally hear you on Facebook and won't visit the link either. I loathe Facebook and everything it stands for. I loathe the cunt who owns it as well.

And I do like Pink Floyd's Roger Waters' way of handling Zuckerberg:
https://www.bitchute.com/video/sWycdIlW5mma/

But notice how well they've managed to keep that statement out of the public eye? I think a statement such as that, coming from a member of one of the worlds most respected bands and being directed at one of the worlds most despised cunts, should be way more public than it is.

And bruh, they're even trying to "Cancel" Metallica now:
https://www.youtube.com/shorts/_e4E-h5GwN8

The dude in the video above points out the problem exactly as it is

We're up against a generation who do not realise that education over the past two decades has been controlled by dictators. They've been taught to obey authority and not to question it. This brain-washed generation of youth have become the Sheeple we need to forcefully re-educate for the good of mankind.

I do my part every time I post one of these rants!

Roger Waters is a fucking fraud..

FLOL.

This is coming from someone who's a massive Pink Floyd fan too...the greatest show I ever saw was at Maine Road Manchester 8-8-1988 ...although Waters had left the band by then, thankfully.

Anti establishment ?...don't make me laugh.

Here's the hypocritical cunt in his stupid Victorian top hat which makes him look like an 18th century mill owner, mingling with the toffs and upper class twats he's supposed to despise so much.

At Royal Ascot ...

It's fucking laughable frankly.
