Hello forum
I need your knowledge for one more time.
Today i tried to load some drum kit on 505 from my pc via smart media card.
I open the card and i was waiting to see, some files in .wav format, that i had saved from previews beats. Instead a saw some alien .spo format files!! What do they want in my SM card? :?:
I had guessed that uploaded some .wav files from my pc to the card and after this from the card to the 505 and the work would be done.
I was wrong?
Also why the .wav files that uploaded in the card they do not appear when i put the card in 505?
Thanks in advance.

I might be wrong, but it seems like you have a wav file, you then put it in the card, but the card changes their format? I’m not sure if that’s what’s happening? So once u load the card back up and export the files they’re now in the format they got changed to, which can’t be wav since that isn’t a supported function? Anyone else able to back this up or chip in that would be good (this shit gives me a chance to learn more abt other SPs without having to own them lol)

I load from pc into the card one folder with some drums sounds in wav extension. As i can see in my pc the card has already a folder with name "ROLAND" and when i open it, has another one folder with the name "SP1".
I put the my sample folder to the "SP1".
After this i put the card back in the 505 and i follow this steps
System> card> load> file.
After this, appears in the screen
From:
"********.***"
To:
"********"
Manual says that "If no WAV or AIFF files has been saved. The display will indicate "******".
What is going wrong?

found this online @ https://www.futureproducers.com/forums/ ... 05.102839/ which might help a bit?

"k, here's the deal, i put the smart media card in the reader hooked to my comp, and all the samples are in .sp0 format, can i convert those to .wav? and if not, how do i get ish off my sampler and onto my computer? jus line to line? thanks, pz!"

with the response

"Like many other samplers, the SP505 must be tracked into a recording program. You can not save your beats as a wav file and export it that way, they must be tracked, like an MPC.

sp0 format is a roland SP proprietary format and will be useless to you other than backing stuff up.

MaZe"

Im not sure about the loading screen stuff but maybe that will help explain some stuff about the file types and exporting :)

Thanks bro/sista.
But i' m still confuzing.. the manual says in page 70 that can load files but with the limitation the files to be in wav or aiff extension, in 8 or 16bit quantization and 44.1 kHz, to be longer than 70ms and not compressed. Also says that if the files aren't in the in a wav or aiff format that 505 support an error mesage "unsupported format" will appear. In my case appears on the screen only "********".
And if i want to export a complete beat? What happen then?

I believe if u want to export a complete beat u need to record it into a DAW, u won’t be able to just load the card and export if? (Things I’ve checked online also say u can only record the tracks out into a DAW etc, not export from card). I don’t know about the error messages though

K.loor, for the ******* stuff, this means that in a way the sample is not recognized; have you tried to format the card yet? who knows maybe that's an issue...
as Jaytreaze said: you cannot export beats or sounds; you can only export sp files wich are sort of projects made with sounds(the machine transform the .wav files in an sp file) and/or patterns

The sounds are from a 9th wonder's drum kit that i DL from the soundpack.com. The format is wav, but in some files that i checked it says nothing about frequency, only how many kbps are. In the manual says that you can' t upload wav files that are compressed. What does this mean?

Unfortunately today I discovered that with the format of the card I erased the chops of many beats I had made.. without to save them.
Is there any way to bring them back?
Also if i copy this .SPO format files, in my pc from the card, is possible to load them again in 505?

Bro it might just save the hassle of dealing with all this by just sampling instead of importing
