I know most people make hip hop and sample based music on these things, but Ive been getting into producing drum and bass in Ableton and was wondering how I could incorporate my sps into this process.Any creative ideas I would like to know.

Thanks y'all

what sp do you use?
i personally have 3 sps (303,505,606)
sometimes i use the 606 for dnb, because is the only one with mute groups capability, so i mute/unmute tracks to make crazy amen braks, muting/unmuting pads each Others...2fx simultaneously + dbeam could help too...

I have a 404og and a 404sx.I wasn't really talking about producing the track on the 404(for that I use ableton)...more just creative ways to enhance my producing in ableton for dnb with the 404s.Thanks for the help man :)

Sorry, no answer, I'm also only interested in DnB and using the SPs for it...

But I'm also interested in purely SP-made DnB !!!
I found some great recordings on the forum ( want more  ).
Maybe someone could share some magic production techniques...? :D

That would be awesome if someone could...b/c up until this point Ive only tried to use the sps for hip hop but I suck at hip hop for now so Im trying to see if there are other uses for the sp that could work for me until I get better at sampling and regular beat making...shits hard tho haha!

Now I'm kind of curious about using just my 404s to make dnb.Im thinking I could use my 404s together or one 404 and my tascam mkii(or both)and really layer drum samples together.Although it would probably end up being more like old school jungle than the newer drum n bass.Any advice on how I should approach this? Also anyone mad any dnb with a 404 that has a link?thanks yall :)

I think this one was made by forum members?! Great stuff:

Of course this is more old school dnb / lofi ( personally I love that ) - alternatively you could get more "cleaner" modern dnb samples in and out of your SP.
I'm currently working on an EP. When I find enough time it should be ready round the weekend...

i remember well that dnb album, thing like this are rare on this forum, and it was well made too. i don't remember with what sp was made.

by the way, i post this track i made some months ago for the beat battle 149 (see the arena section); drums and main sample were provided; i don't usually make dnb track, i like it a lot (expecially metalhead label and photek productions), but seen that for that battle there were also, between others, an amen and i ended up with this dnb track.
the bass is made with an mc909.
all is live and direct with the sp606.
hope you enjoy.

ps
(for that battle i received no votes for this one eheh)
ps2 any link to your dnb sounds/productions?

I'm quite busy at the moment - hope to finish the tracks around weekend!
I still have to set up a Soundcloud/Bandcamp-Account, I already have some material here, waiting for upload...

Yeah, the Subnatural-stuff is really well made. It's intentionally "nasty", and that makes it great. I think they had very good ears for the old school DnB atmosphere.

@ellaguru
Your track sounds great, nice Amen! I'm still thinking about getting a SP606, heard lots of good stuff about and from it ;-)

I still do have some gear in my studio ( which I "cleaned up" over the past few months, getting rid of all that stuff I never used ) but I really want to focus on the 404 ( I have the sx ). At the moment I'm quite obsessed with it and it almost feels like a duty to accomplish this damn DnB-Project only with this little beast ;-)
But I record the tracks on a Zoom R8 - and I think in the end I can't resist and I will overdub some parts... But at least all sounds come from the SP.

I've used SPs to make dnb/jungle quite a few times...

Basically, don't expect it to be 'tight' enough to go in a dj mix, but it will be tight enough to just listen and jam to. Some techniques I've used are:

Used that external PC sequencer for drum programming or used internal sequencer after mashing some amen or whatever then I run that out to tape and load it back into the machine so that the drums are mostly on point.

Everything else, I just do like I do with anything else...resample resample resample while mashing keys and twisting the SP's nipples.

just try to figure how the measures work, it's essentialiy that, i mean the measures in relation with the tempo...you can do fine pad/samples level changemnts, or pad/samples lenght changes or positioning/adjustements with that...once you got this, the rest is just numbers
just take your time, just a bit, and you'll find the way...any problems , hit me up
