Hey everyone,
I'm trying to figure out the best way to incorporate the 303 into live beat sets. Right now my setup consists mostly of sampling / sequencing on an MPC and using the 303 for effects & resampling.

Basically, my question is this..

Can I program 20-30 minutes of beats onto the 303 (64MB SM card) without having to load different patterns mid-set?

Is this possible without using a laptop? Will I run out of pad space only having 16 pads between banks C & D?

If this isn't possible I could always just track entire sequenced beats out of the MPC onto 303 pads and use the effects this way. 64MB card gives me about 33 minutes of samping time if I sample in Long mode.

I'm still relatively new to the SP series so any advice on this would be appreciated. Thanks guys.

the best way might be to do the 1 pad per beat trick.

record each beat to a pad and then play drums over it. or play the air horn or whatever.

unless you have your set down solid and want to jam it all out LIVE then do that.

It is a little bit cheating to do 1 pad per beat because it's all premade and not really live, more like dejaying, but at least you know your songs will be all there and you wont miss anything from being nervous or whatever.

So unless you got all your loops, chops and 1 shots ready to do your whole set, which would be pretty insane and hardcore (but doable) then just play FX and samples over your song. maybe someone has some better tips for you.

good luck.
