Hi all
Hope some one can help me with this as I've tried everything possible :(

Trying to get my sp-404sx to route through the Apogee duet into Ableton so I can sample back out of Ableton into sp-404sx so I can make use of the Sp-404 fxs in real time..

I read on Dubspot ways to do this however the Duet only has 1 output so will not work unless I aggregate the apogee duet with the Macbook pro build in audio to create a 3-4 output (hope this is making sense)

I tried this and it works for like 10-15 mins then glitches out. and I'm also not convinced that the sound quality is good this way...

Anybody know a work around??? Any help would be much appreciated :)

Is this true about the ground loop?!! O man i tried something similar bc i saw the same thing on dubspot its was showing how to use external hardware as a fx send and the person uses a 404 and a pic shows the audio in and outs plugged at the same time! I tried it but it didnt work aNd i gave up quick guess i gotta ask the RAWfamily i thought using the sp on a send track would help me get the fx grabs that i want and right now i am not that quick on the fx switching live and that third knob always seems to pick whatever it wants when u let go of that mfx button unless thats just a OG404 thang

the interface they were using on dubspot (NI komplete 6) allows that loop, not the one you're rocking

also you don't need to use knob 3 to access the mfx. hold down mfx+vinyl sim+pad # for fx 13-24 (mfx+pad# for 1-12)

On 404SX, Vinyl Sim button is replaced by DJ Looper

yeah, it's usually the beat looper that people snag.

peeps need to chill with that fx though. it's crazy when some dudes apply that shit every or every other bar on their beats on every one of their beats.
It sounds cool and everything but take your fingers off that knob for a bit and let your shit breath :|

I was correcting the post that says to access the effect 13-24 without 3rd effect knob, you push that button with the multi fx button...lol

The six has an SD card that can read wav files right? So couldn't you transfer between the two sources?

I'm not sure if you do this on the apogee but if your interface has spdif input and output you can use that to route the signal in the daw of your choice, I managed to set it up using my 505, only I used the spdif out on my interface and connected it to the coaxial in on the 505 and used the rca out on the 505 to connect to the interface. But if you're using a 404 which doesn't have digital ins, you will need an interface with dual outputs. Thats how I understand it from watching that dubspot video.

Please correct me if I am wrong.

Use the 1/4" outs on the Duet to your monitors. Buy a 1/4" TRS to dual rca cable & connect that to the duet headphone jack. Plug those RCA cables into the 404 input jacks. Open Apogee Maestro software and make sure your mute setting are split up. You push the button on the knob of the Duet & sound will play from the monitors & mute the headphones. If you push the knob in again it will play out the headphone jack & mute the monitors.

When you want to record from your computer into the 404, use the audio from the headphone jack. Use the headphone output on your 404 to monitor the audio since your monitors will be muted.

Also, when you come into the duets converters, go through the xlr input jacks if possible. Use Maestro to change the xlr's from mic inputs to bypassing the preamps and hitting the converters. (-10db / +4db) option.
